to want to insert my FIL's head up the arse of the chicken I have been stuffing since 9am this morning?

The parent-in-laws are supposed to be coming for lunch on their way back from a week's holiday. I have been working all week, so spent last night getting the house up to MIL standards...

I have been up since8am making a lovely lunch ,as we don't often see them and making a beautiful cake.

They have just rung to say ''Father-in-law is feeling a bit coldy so we're just bobbing in for a cuppa, please don't go to any bother, we won't be staying for lunch...''

Mind you, FIL's head is too fat to fit up arse of a chicken. It would require excessive force, mmmwah ha ha.

How v annoying.

Oh well, on the bright side you can enjoy your lovely clean house and cake and lunch in peace with no IL's once they've gone, silver linings and all that...?

gemmiegoatEGGS · 06/04/2007 10:31

ooh yes , ILs are like crabsticks, they start to smell pretty fast. Have a lovely day to yourselves

LucyJones · 06/04/2007 10:31

I have to say if it were me I would be overjoyed to have yummy lunch and cake without them

Taylormamaloveslindtbunnies · 06/04/2007 10:32

could you not summon up required excessive force - think you ought to try???

Nightynight · 06/04/2007 10:34

have a nice dinner!

and no of course you arent being unreasonable - this is a brilliant thread title!

vimfuego · 06/04/2007 10:41

BIL does this kind of thing from time to time. Phones up the day before long-arranged meetings and 'downsizes' them because he doesn't want to be any bother.

He genuinely thinks he's being kind!

NineUnlikelyTales · 06/04/2007 10:46

So they're just poppoing in for long enough to leave FILs coldy germs, and then buggering off without eating the lunch? Pah!

Not unreasonable.

idlemum · 06/04/2007 15:11

Not at all unreasonable - but as they are PIL , why isn't DH/DP doing the preparation work? Perhaps he should stuff the chicken

gingernutlover · 06/04/2007 15:22

I would be pleased, but I would also make sure they see all the hard work you have put in when they "bob" in for their cuppa

filthymindedvixen · 06/04/2007 17:53

well, we invited friends over to help eat the mountain of food - and had a lovely day in the end...
dh wasn't rushing around doing all the prep because he doesn't understand that our house is a slum and we will be judged!
(PIL is not dh's father, and all his kids live in huge posh houses and are not scruffy underacheiving slackers like dh and I )
