I was in a relationship with a guy when I was 20 anyway it didn't work out and we went our seperate ways, we still stayed in contact on fb and spoke through out the years but not close (I'm now 28) in that time I met another man had kids with him and it went very wrong and I am now a lone parent. A few days who my ex put up a picture of him with his new girlfriend, and I can't help but feel sad!! And I don't know why as I don't have feelings for him anymore but I guess I'm just sad at how my life ended up! I will not get a chance to meet anyone else as I have a young baby and literally no child care. I feel bitter for feeling sad so I was just wondering if it was normal or aibu.

IMHO, it’s perfectly normal to feel like this.

You will definitely get a chance to meet someone else if that's what you want!

Your life might be going through a bit of a down patch, but it will get better!! So many mumsnetters on here have been through similar.
And yes it's normal to look at other people's lives, especially an ex and feel that way.
Try and stay positive! Flowers

I really won't as I have no child care at all and don't want to have to introduce a man to my kids straight away. I guess I just feel sad at the life I could have had.

I know what you've just said but unless you're a hermit there is certainly a chance. All the baby groups, play sessions, etc. there are still single dads out there. Doesn't mean you have to go looking but it's not impossible either so I don't think you have to mourn the idea of ever having a relationship.

Worriedrose · 22/09/2017 10:23

You might not be able to right now. But at some point you will. Don't give up hope!!

I wanted to wait around the 6 month mark before introducing any one to my kids. So I can't see how a relationship would ever work :(
