Nursery sending home dirty nappies ?

Dd has started nursery recently it's a lovely place and she's been settling in well.

Really confused today though her dirty nappies were in nappy sacks in her nursery bag? (the bag with her spare clothes etc)

Is this a common practice? It seems really bizarre to me?

It's probably just a mistake, the person changing her probably put it by mistake whilst distracted trying to heard toddlers.

Its standard in my experience. You can understand otherwise there would be loads of nappies for them to dispose of daily

Not normal for us. Our nursery just bag them up and put in wheelie bin.

My DC has just started pre school and they send dirty nappies home because it is in a village hall and they don't have the proper waste bins. In a purpose built nursery I wouldn't expect it though.

Some councils are charging extortionate amounts to nursery and childminding provisions to dispose of soiled nappies so many are having to send them home unfortunately.

Odd. We use a childminder and I have never had dirty nappies sent home.

It's probably a mistake. I'm assuming this isn't the first time she's done a poo there and it's the first time they've sent it home.

Maybe as a business they don't have the correct bins/contract to dispose of nappies?

Our old nursery started doing it when the fees for disposal became extortionate. Not ideal but a minor issue if it is otherwise a good nursery.

Seems strange. I would of thought you would of been told about this if it was the done thing for them, or at least have it in a leaflet or something when you enrolled.

They probably want to reduce their waste as it will be a monsterous cost. If they give it to you, it's free for everyone. I wouldn't mind as long as it's properly bagged.

That's completely weird, definitely not normal.

It was like this at my daughter's nursery. It didn't bother me. I just put them in the bin at home.

They send the dirty nappies home?! And this is common?! How strange.

Ours sends them home, but it's a preschool in a church hall with no disposal facilities and we were made aware it was the practice before DD started.

Preschool we use send them home too as they get charged a lot to have 'the correct bin'

That's not normal. I wouldn't be happy with that.

At my son's nursery, they did it so that parents would know how many dirty nappies their child had had that day.
