I am loaded with the cold, I look and feel terrible. I need to go out to a very important event in 3 hours. What can I do to feel better and to look better urgently! My face and eyes are puffed and my head is thumping! I really should be going to bed but instead I really need to look my best and make a great impression tonight. Please share your top tips for winging it!

Lie down with cucumber on your eyes and a face mask. Put some fake tan on before you go out and fake eyelashes if you have them - this will make you look less puffy and awake.

Take lots of tablets..... I hope you feel better soon Flowers

Sandsunsea · 21/09/2017 15:41

Thanks, cucumber is a great idea 👍

Put Vicks on your feet and then put socks over the top. Always help clear any congestion etc when i feel blocked up

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/09/2017 15:54

Cold tea bags on the eyes work as well.

Sandsunsea · 21/09/2017 16:43

Are you joking solemnly ?

Massage your face with a couple of ice cubes for a temporary reduction in puffiness.

SpareChangeDownTheSofa · 21/09/2017 16:47

Solemnly Was about to post the same thing!

Yes OP, Vicks on feet then socks over the top. (Old ones preferably).

Sandsunsea · 21/09/2017 16:53

I'm going to go and search for the Vicks! Need to try this

I thought the vicks was something you were supposed to do at night, not when you go out Shock

MrsJamesAspey · 21/09/2017 17:54

No tips I'm afraid, I've spent 2 days in bed sleeping. Finally stopping sneezing yesterday and went to work today looking like death, lemsip and sleep and not giving a shit how you look is all I can manage atm

SpareChangeDownTheSofa · 21/09/2017 17:55

MrsJames I only do it when I wallow in my bed haha! It feels to weird to walk on.

SylviaPoe · 21/09/2017 18:00

There's a Lisa Eldridge video on where to press ice cubes wrapped in cloth on your face to reduce all the puffiness and blocked up ness.

It might be this one:

If you haven't got any ice cubes you could always improvise with frozen peas.

RebeccaWithTheGoodHair · 21/09/2017 18:02

Second the teabags on the eyes, I find them more effective than cucumber.

SolemnlySwear2010 · 21/09/2017 18:46

Haha, no it does work! I usually do it at night and wake up the next day feeling better but it can't hurt to do it now and hope it gives some relief

Sandsunsea · 22/09/2017 00:44

I am back now, didn't get time to put Vicks on my feet but I did cucumber the eyes then put on enough foundation to ice a cake and took a cocktail of lemsip pills, coffee and lucozade and managed to pull off a not too bad night! Now it's time to go to bed and wallow in self pity and sweaty snot fever dreams.
