To wish my OH would admit when he can't fix something

Lighthearted (with a small hint of rage Grin )

Please tell me I'm not the only one with an OH so utterly stubborn about fixing things in the house...things that he has no idea about how to fix? They remain broken, he tries again, one of his "temporary solutions" remedies something for a day or two and then the problem is back to its worst.

The latest project is the bathroom extractor fan. There's a part in there rattling about that I'm too short to get too and he's said for precisely 107682 days that he'll "look into".

I've just booked a handyman service to come when he's at work because I'm sick of feeling like I'm in a wind turbine when I go for a pee!

Oh come he said he would fix it and he will no need to nag him every 6 months about it Wink😂

DH and I both struggle to admit we don't know or can't do something. Him more than me, I think.

The worst feeling I get is when he goes into the garden with a chainsaw and hedge trimmers. What he lacks in knowledge he makes up for in enthusiasm RIP cherry tree that he 'pruned'

vivaVasLagas ah yes, those extra nerves when the heavy machinery is dragged out.

Maybe you should buy a step ladder and investigate yourself?

mustiwearabra · 21/09/2017 12:43

LadyLoveYourWhat I'm chronically ill and unable to do so but thank you for your helpful comment.

Men eh? Lol

I feel you op. I mentioned to DH that I would like some narrow bookshelves built into a funny little space behind a door. He said "do not get a carpenter - I can build those". We are now 4 weeks in, he has built 2 prototype shelves, measured the damn alcove 5000 times, scribbled all over the wall in pencil and spent £££ on bits of wood and nails and metal corner braces and screws and a new G clamp. I still do not have my shelves. Why not just say, "good idea, I'm not sure I could make fancy ones like that. Better ring a carpenter". RAGE.

Oh, sorry OP, I thought you said you couldn't check out the fan because you were too short!

Oh, wait, you did.
