Wondering if any of you lovely ladies can help me with suggestions. My husband works shift work so no set pattern but 11pm is the latest he's home. We have a 16 month old and I'm 8 weeks pregnant. I'm a sahm and we literally only ever have enough to get by. Live in a tiny rented flat etc. Neither of us are comfortable putting our little boy in a nursery or childminder. So I was wondering if there are any jobs I could do 11pm till 7am ish. I don't sleep much anyway so sleeps not an issue, the issue is I can't think of anything except factory shift work which I'm not sure if it's suitable when pregnant. Anybody got any job ideas? Thanks guys

Supermarket work? They're open 24 hours.

Petrol station but you may not feel safe?

Anything you can hand make & sell?

Ironing business.

Whilst what your doing is admirable, please look after yourself.

KityGlitr · 20/09/2017 21:27

Petrol station. Or a call handler for a crisis type line. Night shifts in a supermarket.

Cookiesandcake · 20/09/2017 21:47

I can't believe I didn't think of supermarkets, I'm such an idiot, thanks guys great idea. And don't worry impydimpy I will :)

Overnight care work might be an option but I don't know what the start/finish times are.

24 hour McDonalds or other fast food/coffee shop. Many places that open at night don't actually let customers inside and you have to pay/order through a window.

Don't know where you are but ones that spring to mind here, so there must be others similar:

Call Centre work - e.g. I know QVC have lots of shifts available inc evenings and weekends e.g. qvc.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/QVC-UK/job/UK-Liverpool-Knowsley/Customer-Service-Representatives_R26571

I know Stoke has a huge Bet 365 place so probably have similar roles to above

Lots of big recruiters have people undertaking screening for recruits, they all call them slightly different things, but here's one at Reed as an example - I have seen evening ones advertised in the past, so it might be worth seeing if other recruitment agencies have similar workforus.reedglobal.com/vacancy/screening-administrator-4pm10pm-325870.html

Banking is 24hr....are you near a call centre?

annandale · 20/09/2017 22:47

Sleep-in care work. You'd have to pick and choose your jobs, but I know a student who used to do about three shifts a week sleeping in the flat of a lady who needed help with medication and occasional light help at night. It might take a while to find jobs like that, most sleep-in work would be at group homes which would be a lot more arduous IMO.

Virtual assistant-from home like when someone has to do online chat with a business, e.g. Amazon live chat

ILoveMillhousesDad · 20/09/2017 23:56

Ooh no. Not a petrol station. My friend had to go to pick up calpol for her sick child and got locked in for hours when somebody tried to break in.

They were safe, but she was stuck in there for hours.

Nit worth it for the crappy pay.

ILoveMillhousesDad · 20/09/2017 23:57

not

VioletCharlotte · 21/09/2017 00:01
