Baby shower?

I have an invite to my niece's baby shower at the end of this month.

I have never been to a baby shower and have no idea what to expect!

Do I get her a card and present and give it to her at her baby shower instead of when the baby is born which isn't for a while yet as she's not due til December. Or card and present for both baby shower and when baby is born? Sorry but this is all new to me!

I usually give a bigger present at a baby shower, then a card when born, mayne with a smaller gift (though if it's someone close to me, like a sibling, I would give another bigger gift when born).

There is no actual 'rule' so I wouldn't over think it or worry, but there are usually lots of gifts at a baby shower so that would be an appropriate time if you wanted to give one.

Yes, you have to take a present to a baby shower, because 'shower' is short for 'shower with gifts' - it's the whole point (if they didn't want gifts, they'd be hosting a party with a different name).

You can however give just a small present at the shower (actually, 'shower-type gift' is a euphemism for small/inexpensive) and then if you sign give a present when then baby is actually here. Or you give the baby gift you intended at the shower.

If you are skint take baby wash - for the shower- and plead ignorance. .

I have had a recent invite to a baby shower and have got some presents and a card ready, I will be getting a card and another present once the baby is born in October.
