How to word speculative job application email?

ComingUpTrumps · 19/09/2017 10:25

Sorry - posting for traffic!

I work on a freelance basis for a company at the moment. I contacted them this morning to ask if they have any full-time vacancies, and they've said that it would be best to send in my CV attached to a short covering email.

I've never really written an email for a speculative job application before - just wondering what the best way is of going about it please?

Thanks :)

I would say something like

I am attaching my CV as requested. I have thoroughly enjoyed working for xyz co on the xyz project. I would like to be considered for any suitable opportunities particularly abc

Make certain your cv has your current job on it!

Thanks so much AJP! :)

Do you have any ideas about what I could put in the subject line of my email please?

Something like 'request regarding full-time work opportunities at X organisation' or 'speculative application for full-time work opportunities at X organisation'?

For the main body of the email, I've written:

"I am writing to enquire about the possibility of a full-time position at X organisation.

I currently work for the company on a freelance basis on X project. I have found this work particularly enjoyable and rewarding, and I would like to be considered for any full-time employment opportunities that may become available at X organisation.

I have attached my CV for your consideration.

Yours sincerely,

Trumps."

Dear XXXX (address to the name ideally)

I was looking at your website, and I saw that you are experiencing XXX issues and growth, and therefore might have a need for the services I offer

I am specialist in services providing XXXX (TAILOR TO WHAT THEY DO) and as such wanted to send a copy of my CV for when you are next looking for external support.

I have successful supported ADD A COMPEITITOR OR SIMILAR INDUSTRY NAME and can happily provide some samples.

I hope this is useful, and happy to come in and discuss

keep it snappy, tailored and sound confident

the key is to tailor it to what they do. they sell Greenhouses? you design them. They are expanding to web based media? you are an expert in web based media. they have a new office in Grimsby, that's you patch. etc etc

anything generic will get binned

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 19/09/2017 12:29

sorry, mine is a cold email template OP, ignore. Grin

but again snappy, and tailored!
