If Im no longer in love or fancy my DH anymore.

I have been told to try it but how exactly would it work? After a couple of sessions will I suddenly see my DH as George Clooney?

No, counselling doesn't fix stuff. Only you can do that. It should, however, give you both a chance to air your sides. And if you still want to part ways, it can help to ensure that the breakup is achieved in as civilised and supported a way as possible. Divorce is hard, even if both parties want it.

At least if you go then you can both say that you did what you could and it still didn't work. He may need that maybe?

I felt like that. One session with a counsellor and we were at it like rabbits, so yes it can work.
