Just bought my fist one ever!

Thought it would be a lovely treat me everyone to enjoy!

Had to blow it out, the smell was making me feel sick. Far too overpowering and strong.

£40 wasted!

It was the pomegranate noir one.

Are they all like this?

Fire is lit but window is open 🔥

Just read more on it... Limonene itself is fine but can turn into formaldehyde on exposure to ozone in the air. Good to have lots of plants to help improve air quality. sorry I'll bugger off now

I've bought muji recently and they have been fab. Also St Eval are quite good.

M&S have a huge gold bowl with a candle with half a dozen wicks. I leant ove to sniff the Coastal Walk fragrance and nearly choked. Overpowering and not pleasant.
I love most JM but pomegranate noir is redolent of cheap sticky fruity sweets!

Limonene is also present in some essential oils it may be the limonene giving headaches. Some of the larger companies combine essential oils with nature identical.oils to help with scent throw especially in soy wax candles where you typically need to add more fragrance than with paraffin wax candles. Alot of the bigger candle companies use paraffin wax because the wax burns quicker and uses less fragrance than a soy wax candles.

I like unscented candles. I hate the artificial smell of scented candles. Like air freshener. Yuck.

I have the opposite complaint: it's really hard to find candles that give off a decent strong scent.

The best ones I've found are from the Harrogate Candle Company. The Woodwick ones are quite good too.

I'd be furious if I bought an expensive candle and couldn't smell much. I dabble with TK Maxx candles from time to time, but as soon as I find one I like I can guarantee that I'll never see it again, because they tend to sell end of line stuff!
