AIBU not to visit Fil

Just that really. OH doesn't see him much through choice and wanted me to go today as well. I really can't be bothered as each time we've been I just don't enjoy it. I'll happily spend time with MIL but can't bring myself to bear the drudgery of an hour's worth of FILS company.

I just don't enjoy his company. He's very over bearing and likes to talk about himself a lot. Doesn't really listen when you speak

Surely you would be going just to be of some support to your partner? Would he appreciate that support?

I'd grin and bear it for an hour. You don't want to seem like you don't give a shit (even if you don't). Seems a bit harsh. Agree with Afuna, at least get some tasty grub out of it then you can leave after too without having to make excuses.

Just as long as you dont expect him to come with you to visit your family.

yanbu!!! i cannot stand my fil! i once went for a 3hour walk to get out of my own house just so i could avoid him.

I get it, but I suppose I would go with him to share the load. It's the opposite in my family, I like my partner to come with me to my family!
