...to expect the Times to correct reporting errors

Saw on FB and Twitter that the Times completely misreported the findings of a study on drinking in pregnancy being safe, and now refuses to publish the scientists' letter of correction. I'm trying to attach the letter so you see what it says. AIBU to expect the Times to report studies correctly, and if errors are pointed out, at the very least print the letter by the scientists that says what they really found?

What evidence is there that the FB and twitter reports are themselves correct?

I did read the study in the academic journal after seeing the Times headline, as it seemed to contradict all previous evidence. Saw that in fact the Times had badly got it wrong and then came across this letter from the authors (from the lead authors' account) that they couldn't get Times to print their clarification. I just think that's piss poor journalism, and wouldn't have expected it from a quality paper
