We've done the first week and already have lost book bag- day 2 and now lost cardigan. DD has one spare sweatshirt! Argh!

She's at breakfast and after school club so it's difficult to locate said missing items.

I find it helps to mark items with my mobile number, rather than just a name.

myusernameisnotmyusername · 13/09/2017 20:31

That's a good idea. I thought she'd just remember them at this age. And it is hard to get them from classroom to after school club.

Well not reception - but DD (yr2)was under strict instruction not to lose ANY of her new games kit, so managed to come home with 2 skorts, 3 socks and an extra trainer (which have now been re-united with their owners).

myusernameisnotmyusername · 13/09/2017 20:48

Ha ha!

Still have this issue in Y3 and Y6!

Hunkle · 13/09/2017 20:52

I had DDs name embroidered on her cardigan this week for £1.50.

In case someone cuts the name label out Hmm

Maya12 · 13/09/2017 20:56

Nothing lost all reception year last year, just some mixed up shoes once. Not sure why, ds isn't usually good looking after us stuff.

thewavesofthesea · 13/09/2017 20:57

Well, I have none of the missing items. They are all missing

MyHairNeedsASnip · 13/09/2017 20:58

We lost nothing in Reception so I treated DD to a Smiggle water bottle. 2nd week in and it's gone. Turns out she just didn't have anything worth nicking last year.

PippaPug · 13/09/2017 20:59

Little one I look after came back from his first day and he managed to pull three of his buttons of his shirt 🤔 Not sure why!

myusernameisnotmyusername · 14/09/2017 19:07

Ha ha waves.

Pippa did he try to take it off and the buttons got in the way.

My daughter came home on her first day with a ripped pinafore and green socks. Not lost anything yet!

Herestoinsanity · 14/09/2017 20:00

Not only lost anything but 2nd day back out of 4 DCs I had 3 ruined pairs of shoes (brand new!!) And I mean ruined one patent scuffed beyond repair (my fault for buying them probably) and another with a hold in the toe.
Also a pair of trousers with a tear in the knee from a football accident (again brand new although poor DSs knee was also torn poor boy).

One week in I now have 4 broken water bottles and a chewed up tie (DS1 autistic and does it for comfort) and a missing pair of plimsolls.

I give up.

Alpacaandgo · 14/09/2017 20:01

My ds lost his trousers once. His trousers ffs!

Littlebelina · 14/09/2017 20:07

We were down 4 hats, a water bottle and a (thankfully hand me down) coat last year (still a bit gutted though as it was nice). We ended up buying 2 extra sweatshirts and the lost ones turned up. Everything was labelled. We are same as you OP and do wrap around care so looking for lost stuff is a nightmare.

MrsClegane · 14/09/2017 20:09

We've done quite well not to lose much.
but my ds did come home with 2 left shoes on once....

NoWordForFluffy · 14/09/2017 20:10

DD came home on day 2 with somebody else's cardigan, but this was thankfully rectified on day 3. Beating in mind we've not had the best start, I'm not optimistic about the rest of the year!

hidinginthenightgarden · 14/09/2017 20:15

So far so good. DS went to nursery for 4 years and we only ever lost a pair of shoes and a couple of toys so not bad. The shoes were because there were 2 kids with identical shoes but different sizes. MIL did pick up and chose the wrong pair (or maybe the other parents collected first and took ours). We returned them but the other parents were obviously delighted they now had a pair of next size up shoes for free Hmm

2014newme · 14/09/2017 20:20

In reception my dds lost 8 cardigans. Most eventually found their way back.

oldsilver · 14/09/2017 20:55

It doesn't change when they get older. Year 7, DS has so far lost one coat (found), pencil case and 5 water bottles - all named

Trb17 · 14/09/2017 20:59

Reception you say?

DD lost new coat last week ... in year 7!!!

Confused
StubbleTurnips · 14/09/2017 21:01

We've lost a cardigan, but gained a pair of socks.

myusernameisnotmyusername · 14/09/2017 21:22

Gosh some of these are funny...lost trousers and 2 left shoes! We have the cardigan back and they think her bag is in the other classroom so we'll see. I'm going to get her a plain cardigan as a spare.
