I have 2. .
Years ago exh and I decided to do a mammoth decorate over a few nights so enlisted help from family members and 1 of his mates. .
Going well until it was time to put a border at the top of the now dry painted passage and staircase. .
Found exh +mate in the shed with mate cutting the border WITH A FUCKING HACKSAW! . And exh just standing holding the end of the roll!!
Speechless. .
And 2.
New dh has just suggested we spray paint a curtain to match the new wallpaper I have bought for the bathroom.
Seems my choice of dh needs some tuning. .
Your turn. .

We were house hunting. One couple were very proud of the fact they'd redecorated on a budget. It was before digital cameras so you'll just have to take my word for it.
They'd got wallpaper books out of a skip and decorated with the pages. To hide the seams they'd cut individual pictures out of magazines and used them as borders.
The house we bought, they'd painted the bathroom with orange paint including the toilet right down to the water line.

When I moved into my house my Da said he would paint the front door. I came home from work and he had painted the inside of it Confused

Omg!!
Assume you didn't buy it? You would have had to buy a loo en route on the moving day!

All these budget DIY pages on Facebook where they smash up mirrors and use them as tiles all round the stairs. And covering kitchen worktops with fablon. One lady suggested that someone varnish their Matt finish worktop to make it more shiny. And a whole spate of people using wood panel effect wallpaper on their floors and varnishing it.

Oh m gee it looks gaw- juss hunni!

I'd love to see what these things look like in a few months time. I also get weird sensation in my feet when I imagine catching the edge of one of those shards of mirror tile not quite grouted properly. Ouchy!

I've got Fablon on my work surfaces and it's been brilliant. Been on a year and it's a damn sight more hygienic than the burnt, scratched, dog chewed mess that's underneath it and will do me until I can afford to replace the kitchen.

I agree about the broken glass though. And the glitter walls! I think that would actually put me off buying a house. It must be like artex or woodchip to remove!
