Currently 31 weeks with first. Two people today have gasped at me for not having hospital bag ready yet. Now I am panicking!
Also haven't bought all the essentials either Confused am I being too laid back or should I jolly well sort myself out??
I don't even finish work for another 7 weeks!

AAah I'm 37 weeks and have only half arsed packed a bag. It's my first. We've only just finished the essentials buying.

We went to boots the other day and bought essentially everything "absorbant" dh thought it was hilarious.

As a dm who had ds at 35 weeks very unexpectedly I would get your behind in gear ladies!

Katedotness1963 · 11/09/2017 19:09

I packed mine weeks early. Then while in labour, and with my husband jiggling the car keys, I felt the need to tip it out to check I had everything. Managed to leave my comb, talc, and toothbrush behind because they fell off the bed when I shook the bag upside down. Don't do what I did!!

MrsCharlieD · 11/09/2017 19:13

With ds it was packed by 36 weeks. Currently 35 weeks with dc2 and after a scare today where I found out ds might need to be delivered early I came home and packed a bag. Ds was a week overdue so naively I thought that would be the case this time.

Pack your bag as you never know.

ethelfleda · 11/09/2017 19:16

Thanks ladies. I have only just googled what I am supposed to pack as well Blush
Suddenly feel very unorganised!

I packed mine a around 35 weeks pregnant and thought I was mega organised. Most of what I packed wasn't used and ended up staying in for a week so was very unprepared in that case Grin he was born at 40+6. To be fair, I think babies born at 35 weeks are more uncommon so try not to fret too much. When you get half an hour in the next few weeks, just pack a bag. It really doesn't take long Smile

PurpleTraitor · 11/09/2017 19:23

I never did pack a bag. I thought about it, then decided it sounded stressful.

Sayyouwill · 11/09/2017 19:25

I had planned to pack my bag at 35 weeks but ended up having my DS at 34+6

jmscp2015 · 11/09/2017 19:27

I've packed mine and I'm 29+5! I like to be organisedBlush I was buying stuff and just thought what's the point of putting it away to get back out and pack at a later date. So I packed it all yesterday! Smile

GiveTwoSheets · 11/09/2017 19:28

I packed last minute wasn't prepared to end up staying in a week. Apparently the done thing is to rock up with suitcase a memo I didn't get so looked like tramp bag lady.

ethelfleda · 11/09/2017 19:28

its a hospital not the gobi desert
Grin

Purple I'm about to arrive at the same conclusion myself!

It feels like the Gobi Desert though with the heating on full whack Hmm

Angelika321 · 11/09/2017 19:31

Currently 35 weeks and haven't bought anything or packed my bags yet! Baby can't come before 40 weeks as we used all our annual leave doing childcare during the summer holidays. This means the 2 weeks parental leave for my husband need to be over the October half term! I can't deal with 3 kids and a new born on my own!

Neverknowing · 11/09/2017 19:31

I did it the night before I went in Grin

Littledrummergirl · 11/09/2017 19:32

Ds2 was born at 35wks. I had no bag packed so dh put one together and brought it in the next day.
We managed.

Ohb0llocks · 11/09/2017 19:35

31 weeks here and all I've got are baby clothes and pads (boob and fanny). I do want to get sorted though. Can't remember what I packed last time!

PocketNiffler · 11/09/2017 19:40

At 31 weeks I had a barebones bag packed - what I'd need if I was to stay in for monitoring, nothing for baby (superstitious and figured they'd be in the nicu if born that early). So I think I had toothbrush/toothpaste, spare phone charger, headphones, kindle and a nightie.

ememem84 · 11/09/2017 19:41

I've just had a look at my bag. I have a packed:

A few nappies
Pads - boob and fanny
Nipple cream
Arnica tablets
Rehydration tablets
Vitamins
A couple of pairs of gigantic black pants
Eyemask
Travel toiletry bag
Pyjamas

No clothes for baby. Need to add those.

We live close to hospital - no further than a 10 minute drive. So if I forgot anything dh could whizz home and get something. I think (apart from lack of baby outfit) I'm ok for the first night at least.

Babyblues14 · 11/09/2017 19:45

Haha 39 weeks and still haven't packed my coming home bag or washed all the babies clothes yet. My excuse for the washing is they smell better when they have been on the washing line and it won't stop raining.
I hope my nesting kicks in soon or it is going to be too late.
Only reason my hospital bag is done is because my sister insisted on helping me Grin

Notahappycustomer · 11/09/2017 20:33

Tbh. Apart from pjs. Spare clothes to leave in and nappies cotton wool and baby clothes you wont need anything else. Maybe some.snacks and water. But you wont need much. But that was my experience. And of course the basics. Toothbrush, hairbrush. Shampoo and towel if you want to shower. I was in and out same day with my 1st. Was only in for 15 hours for 2nd over night as born late in the day. And home birth for 3rd. Dont pack too much as you have to get it there and store it.pack minimum and if you have to stay longer get your oh to collect more things for you.

Loving2day · 11/09/2017 20:36

I have always had my bag packed at 35+ weeks labour never goes to plan

BellaGoth · 11/09/2017 20:41

I packed my bag for DD in between contractions. It's not particularly effective tbh! I missed out loads of stuff but the hospital sorted me out. My SIL picked up stuff I'd not managed to buy.

But packing it before going into labour would have been much easier!

PurpleTraitor · 11/09/2017 23:28

I stayed at home where all my stuff is instead Wink

Winterview · 12/09/2017 06:45

I packed half of mine around 35 weeks. Went into labour at 37 weeks. Packed the rest during early labour (in between contractions!) You will probably have plenty of time to potter around packing once labour starts.
