The cost of school trips

I have 3 dc at primary and so am fully aware they will have school trips but aibu to think a week and a half's notice to find £45 is unreasonable?

We are comfortable however this summer happens to have been expensive beyond our control but that aside, last salary paid for 3 pairs of shoes and new uniforms etc so really I'm saying I can't justify asking for help as we really don't deserve it but I'm annoyed I'll have to go overdrawn.

I budget meticulously and do allow for extra surprises but we've already had that this month with various things then next month will be back on track.

It's made me think, there must be numerous people who don't have £45 laying around at such short notice. We usually get much more time to pay.

Aibu to be a bit annoyed?
