To not know why he's sick?

Ok... bit of background I am an emetophobe so do tend to wind myself up about these things but here goes!

My children's dad cooked them frozen burgers earlier, cheap pork and beef ones, he isn't an experienced cook and I usually do all the cooking but was feeling unwell (I'm heavily pregnant)

I noticed halfway through eating mine that it was undercooked in the middle Confused so left it. Eldest and youngest child hadn't even tried it, middle 2 boys had eaten theirs.

One of my boys has now woken me up having been sick everywhere Envy he's ok in himself and says he feels ok now but is sitting up on the sofa with me watching a film. How likely is it that this is from the undercooked burger or is it more likely he's picked up a stomach bug? Trying to contain the vomit panic!

Hi another emetophobe here and I can sympathise with your position right now I'd say its most probably the undercooked burger that made him ill as stomach bugs have more symptoms and go on longer in duration Flowers it's hard I know but please don't worry yourself about it too much

outnumbered4 · 11/09/2017 04:01

I'm really hoping it's the burger, I know that sounds mad but if it is that then the whole family won't get sick! I'm having a c section 2 weeks tomorrow and having irrational thoughts of everyone taking a few days each to catch a bug then giving it to me when I go in to hospital Confused I wish I could be more rational about these situations!

Son seems ok so far though has had some water and says his tummy doesn't hurt at the moment he's just tired now

Yes it will most likely be the burger it's happened to me a few times before and I can also relate to your anxiety about hospitals and you're feelings aren't irrational at all I'm the same with germs bugs and viruses it's alright but please try not to let yourself get stressed out by it too much try and take your mind off it if you can and relax your son seems over the worst of it and as his tummy doesn't hurt and he can keep fluids down then it's food poisoning a mild case of it anyway if it was the norovirus it would have become apparent by now try not to overanalyze I know easier said then done with the condition you have and congratulations on your baby Smile

outnumbered4 · 11/09/2017 04:34

Thank you Smile the thing that's bothering me a bit is why is he the only one that's not well if it is the burger? His dad ate a couple of them, I ate half of one and his brother ate one Confused would we not all be sick?

I can sympathize as a fellow emetophobe OP.

If he's holding down water then the likelihood is that it is an upset stomach from the food/food poisoning. How is he now?

AlmostAJillSandwich · 11/09/2017 05:40

My sympathies op. As for why its only affected one child, he probably just happens to have the weakest immune system. His body hasnt dealt with the germs/bacteria as well so its a natural reaction for the body to expel the offending stomach contents.

I dont want to worry you but keep a close eye on him. Raw or undercooked pork can cause botulism. (Sp)

outnumbered4 · 11/09/2017 06:32

He hasn't been sick any more and seems in good spirits, he's much less tired than me!

I have no idea what botulism is... I'm going to have to google Confused

Botulism would not be the cause of food poisoning from an undercooked frozen burger.

The chances of him having botulism hover around the zero mark.

Hopefully he is now feeling better.

Thanks everyone I'm staying on top of the anxiety at the moment, house is currently being scrubbed with zoflora from top to bottom! He is bouncing around like there's nothing wrong with him and winding up his brother that he doesn't have to go to school though! I think it will be a long day Confused
