He's gorgeous! And now he has written a book that addresses how we are raising boys and girls differently and shouldn't be.

And his mouth

babyschmaby · 07/09/2017 14:03

I saw his C4 interview during the week (following this post I assume it was just hype for his book) made him sound like a prize twat.

"we call it the trick"

Do you fuck, you fuck.

He's a patronising 'enlightened' arsehole.

If you're part of the PR team then feel free to quote me on the back of the dust jacket Red.

Who says boys and girls should be raised identically? It's (debatably) fine to swoon over someone who agrees with your views but a little precarious to position yourself so forthrightly as to assume everyone agrees with you.

teaandtoast · 07/09/2017 14:09

Who?

fleshmarketclose · 07/09/2017 14:12

He must totally have passed me by as have never heard of him tbh but if he's gorgeous post a photo OP so we can appraise his features.

MaryMcCarthy · 07/09/2017 14:12

His book is very good - very moving and meaningful in places.

Babyschmaby sounds bitter, ignorant and has a chip on her shoulder.

BertrandRussell · 07/09/2017 14:15

"Who says boys and girls should be raised identically?"

Not sure what you mean. The point is that children should not be pigeonholed before birth. Not that they should be raised identically.

RedBlackberries · 07/09/2017 14:16

teaandtoast he was Jez in peep show.

No I'm not park of a PR team Grin. just a mum with a crushYou sound very angry. I don't think he comes across as a twat at all on the c4 interview.

RedBlackberries · 07/09/2017 14:17

bertrand said it better than my op!!

LongWavyHair · 07/09/2017 14:19

How are we raising boys and girls differently? (Genuine question not being goady)

BertrandRussell · 07/09/2017 14:19

He's going to get a lot of hassle though. From MRA for letting the side down and from the "but girls just love pink naturally" brigade. I think he is wise not to be on Twitter.......

babyschmaby · 07/09/2017 14:20

See image. He's a stunner and no mistake. The thinking womans' Idris Elba (as long as you're thinking, I dig conventionally attractive men)

MaryMcCarthy

Confused

Really? All that from ~70 words?

PutTheBunnyBackInTheBox · 07/09/2017 14:20

I love "That Mitchell and Webb Look". I don't think he's attractive though, each to their own.

And YY to "the trick." I'm starting to think DD will get laughed at because she's wearing a dress Confused

teaandtoast · 07/09/2017 14:24

Thanks.

RedBlackberries · 07/09/2017 14:28

long wavy I find that boys are still meant to be little fighters and girls are expected to be pretty. So much stuff online and I've seen in real life that when people meet a little girl they'll compliment her apearence and with boys they'll say something like 'oh I like that toy, what does it do' . Also the trend for all that gender stuff about girl brains and boy brains is harming the way they're seeing themselves as they grow up.

OP posts:
RedBlackberries · 07/09/2017 14:28

Hopefully one of the regulars on the feminist boards can put it better. I'm not so much with the words Grin.... more the crushes!

OP posts:
RedBlackberries · 07/09/2017 14:30

I think this is better!

DD used to think he was DH on the CBeebies bedtime story! There's a passing resemblance, but it did make us laugh.

nodogsinthebedroom · 07/09/2017 14:38

He's right of course but I'm with babyschmaby re that interview - it made me cringe.

BertrandRussell · 07/09/2017 14:40

Must have been a dud interview- they happen.

Fortunately all the ones I've heard, and the book, show him to be thoughtful, sensitive and very measured.

Brugmansia · 07/09/2017 14:41

I haven't seen the interview but I've started reading his book and it is good.

Also he is on Twitter. He is worth following.

BertrandRussell · 07/09/2017 14:44

"Also he is on Twitter. He is worth following."

Oh, is he? I thought he said he wasn't. I'll go and follow him immediately!

Helena333 · 07/09/2017 14:47

Does nothing for me.

Sorry OP.

Maudlinmaud · 07/09/2017 14:48

I ordered his book this morning. Always been a fan, peep show is genius and the man can dance.

Brugmansia · 07/09/2017 14:51

He is @arobertwebb on Twitter

starsinyourpies · 07/09/2017 14:54

The adaptation on radio 4's book of the week was excellent. I think a lot more of him now. It's not really about treating boys and girls the same, but he had a lot of shit to deal with growing up.

LaurieMarlow · 07/09/2017 14:56

When I lived in London he lived very close to me. Used to see him in Waitrose all the time. My DS called his DD a baby once (DS only a toddler and the DD 7/8). She was most offended Grin

He does nothing for me looks wise I'm afraid.
