To want to go on The Apprentice?

Just so I can do the tasks? Grin

Would genuinely love to see how well I coped and why they all seem so bad at them?

Go for it!

BlackThumb · 05/09/2017 19:14

Is it on again and I've missed it?!

Skittlesss · 05/09/2017 19:26

I want to go on. I've got a really good unique idea... It's like a booth that you drive up to and you order your food and then you don't have to get out of your car to get it - they just pass it through the window 😊

MyBrilliantDisguise · 05/09/2017 19:27

I would love to go on, too! It would drive me absolutely nuts, though, when nobody listens to commonsense!

jollyjester · 05/09/2017 19:29

I would love this but I would probably take a swing for someone or just call them lots of unsuitable for tv names.

Do the producers actually look for those people who have no common sense?

Bombardier25966 · 05/09/2017 19:33

Whatever you do the producers would ensure you look like an utter tit!

Allthebestnamesareused · 05/09/2017 19:34

I'd be out first week as Suralan (or do we have to call him Lord Sugar now?) always says he has enough corporate lawyers!

When it was a job they might as well have called a sales apprenticeship. Nowadays many end up getting through to the final even if they are crap at tasks because they have a great business idea!

MyBrilliantDisguise · 05/09/2017 19:36

Remember that bloke with the nail file? They're still dragging that out as the best thing ever. IT'S A BENT NAIL FILE, FFS!

Redcrayons · 05/09/2017 19:42

I think it's probably harder than it looks. You don't have much time to do plan or do the task, you've got to Work with a load of other people who are all jostling to be noticed. And expected to be good at stuff you've never done before.

I think he's already chosen the last 3 based on their business plans and the rest are just cannon fodder.

What would your business idea be?

MuchasSmoochas · 05/09/2017 19:45

My friend got through the rounds and was offered a place but didn't take it because her work wouldn't give her leave. Her angle was you don't have to be hateful/arrogant to be good at business.

I would love to get fired by Lord Sugar, I'd reach over to shake his hand and then do a rude sign Grin

MuchasSmoochas · 05/09/2017 19:46

It's the team work that would kill me, I couldn't manage them.

Peachyking000 · 05/09/2017 19:47

Oh I'd love to go on it too! My business idea would be home made baby food - freshly delivered to people's homes. Inspired by slaving over Annabel Karmel recipes when DC was little - though with BLW there is probably less demand now!

GlitteryPenguin · 05/09/2017 19:48

I took part in an episode once... they're not allowed any help/Googling which is half the reason they come across so badly - but they definitely picked the right people... not a speck of common sense between them!

MuchasSmoochas · 05/09/2017 19:53

That's a good one Peachy.

Yes I always wondered why they don't use Google. Bit silly really. I'd sneak in another phone and go to the loo to find the cheapest candelabra/Cuban cigar.

gabsdot · 05/09/2017 19:53

Is the next series starting soon.
I love it.

MyBrilliantDisguise · 05/09/2017 21:31

I wonder why they can't Google. At work that's the first thing they'd do. There's a task where they have to run around looking for items and there's always something where they don't know what it is. I've never understood why they couldn't Google that or just ask someone in the street. Occasionally they do ask someone, so that must be allowed, but why don't they all do this? Are they so confident they feel nobody else would know?

MerlinsLeftButtock · 05/09/2017 21:41

I'd bloody love to be in the apprentice. But I have no business skill, couldn't sell for shit and would definitely never be able to give a presentation. But I think I actually have some common sense ....

Mittens1969 · 05/09/2017 21:55

One requirement appears to be that you have to be very slim, or at least I've never seen anyone overweight on it. So that rules me out a lot of the time.

I would absolutely hate the early starts so I absolutely wouldn't try, but I love watching it. When will it be on again???

OllyBJolly · 05/09/2017 22:00

I know someone who was on it. Business contact - not a friend really. She was successful, competent and lovely - a genuinely kind woman. The first few weeks she was slated for being too "passive". Next few weeks she was shown as very argumentative and difficult - but knowing her, I think it was edited to make her look like that.

She's since changed her name and probably more successful than many of the winners. No mention of The Apprentice on her Linked In profile.

Muddlingalongalone · 05/09/2017 22:04

I'd love to do the tasks too - it looks so bloody easy watching it so I really wonder why they seem so shit.
I downloaded the application form once years ago but I hadn't got enough work experience at the time.

MissBabbs · 05/09/2017 22:09

I'd like to see a version with older people, or even families competing.
Knowing how pompous and misogynist many of the older men in my life are it could be quite entertaining.

RockyTop · 05/09/2017 22:40

I've worked with a former contestant (one of the earlier series) a few times. She did pretty well on the show and came across well. She's doesn't have much positive to say about the whole experience though.

What I want to know (and I probably should just ask her) is how long they really have to get ready. There's no way an entire houseful go from still sleeping to showered and ready in twenty minutes or however long the voice on the phone gives them!

ButtonLoon · 05/09/2017 22:45

I would never go on a reality TV, a friend did and I was really upset by the way they edited her plus all the comments on forums calling her a bitch...!

BMW6 · 05/09/2017 22:47

*mittens1969^

Ruth Badger was not slim.

MoonfaceAndSilky · 05/09/2017 22:55

Yes with straightened hair and a full face of make up Grin
