To use my DD's hand luggage allowance for myself

We are flying Ryanair on Wednesday and our DD's are allowed a hand luggage and personal item each. I have managed to get all their stuff between 1 small case (cabin sized) and our checked case. DH and I have hand luggage each but he also wants to take his camera bag which is within hand luggage dimensions but larger than a personal item. Does anyone know if we would get away with using the other DD's hand luggage allowance for the camera bag?

I'm sure it will be fine.

MadameJosephine · 04/09/2017 20:54

I don't see why not. 4 tickets = 4 pieces of hand luggage, it shouldn't make any difference who actually carries it.

SandyDenny · 04/09/2017 20:56

They don't look inside the bags, you don't actually have to pack separately by person, you can have the same numner of bags as people, no one cares what's inside them (as long as you don't have any banned items of course)

IfOnlyIKnewThen · 04/09/2017 21:20

Yep. We've just done this. DS is a toddler and definitely didn't need hand luggage but my DH needed a bit extra.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 04/09/2017 21:22

I've done this. I also have carry on medical equipment that I stuff with extras like phone chargers, cardigans etc as the bag used for the equipment (and it's contents) doesn't count towards the allowance.

Sukitakeitoff · 04/09/2017 21:23

Of course it's fine!

OlennasWimple · 04/09/2017 21:24

Why would there be a problem? They don't check the bags and insist that only items belonging to one person can be inside one bag

arethereanyleftatall · 04/09/2017 21:26

Of course You can. You've paid for 4 bags, put in each what you'd like (except drugs, knives, fire arms etc...)

I was challenged at airport today as the three ziplock bags I presented only contained my toiletries, I said, three hand bags, three ziplock, they backed down.

I've had it before (oy travel hand luggage to regular holiday home btw) once you pay for a seat the allowance applies to each Traveller so you can have your full Chanel facial regime plus toothpaste for child if you (me) choose....
Oh and bag one and two are clothes, bag three is electrics, books, toiletries. They hate it but it's sound logic. As long as each ziplock is less than 500 ml you're good to go.

I never even though of not doing this. When we have flown I always mix stuff up in case a bag gets lost. Same with hand luggage, im not bothered about separating each persons stuff exactly, the airline don't care as long as you are within the weight and number of items guidelines.

Whinesalot · 04/09/2017 21:33

I've always done this and not thought twice about it.

apostropheuse · 04/09/2017 21:36

Yes you will be fine to do that.

fuckingroundabout · 04/09/2017 21:39

I have mixed and matched all our hand luggage. Slightly worried as I have a separate change bag with the baby bits in :/

Northend77 · 04/09/2017 21:41

Fab! Thanks everyone. DH is a happy chappy now and busy loading up more camera equipment!!

I think I had it in my head that each passenger had to carry their own bag and his camera bag is very obviously not one which belongs to a 2 year old!! It's also a 6am flight so very unlikely that either DD would be carrying/pulling their own luggage anyway! I didn't think it would be a problem but you know what it's like - you travel a long way to get to the airport and have limited time so I just wanted to see what others thought
