To ask for your holiday disaster stories

I need some cheering up to hear that I'm not the only one who has had an awful holiday.
Our lovely 2 week holiday in France ended in disaster at the start of the second week. I broke my ankle, and had to have it operated on. Was in a French hospital for 6 days and we have had to delay our return to the UK. DS is going to miss the first day back at school, and I won't be able to go back to work until goodness knows when. I literally cannot do anything but sit in a chair. I'm really fed up and sad that our much looked forward to holiday has ended like this.
Anyone got any similar tales of woe to share?

When I was 15 talked my parents into letting me take my then Boyfriend who was 17 on holiday to Greece with us for 2 weeks. (Had been together a year) They reluctantly agreed.
Day 2 into the holiday we rented Quads went sightseeing, waved at the locals, next thing I know I was driving off the edge of a bumpy road, fell 10 ft down a rocky ditch and landed on my back. BF And my Brother had already gone on in front so didn't notice, and some local picked me up out of the stingys and undergrowth! My parents weren't far behind so rung and ambulance. Was in a Greek hospital for 3 days, had stitches in my leg and they thought I'd broken my back, but had the all clear and was sent on my way with crutches! We went back to the apartment, to be greeted by my BF and the girl next door, who was full on straddling him. He then told me he didn't want anything to do with me, he had found the love of his life next door. I was heartbroken, he got pissed every night, and we had the joys of hearing them to DTD next door every night until she went home a week later.
He then went onto finding a Greek holiday rep to DTD With for the next 4 days of our holiday, didn't bat an eyelid at me. So as you can imagine, when our holiday ended, so did his holiday romances, So he then tried to apologise to me profusely all the way home. My dad sent him on his way, Bad experience. Will never let my DD take her future bfs wth us after learning that lesson the hard way!

There's nothing worse than being in a Hospital, let alone a foreign one!
I hope your Ankle heals soon!

Sprained ankle in southern France. I was camping and pregnant. That was fun (not).

This all happened on one holiday, honestly.

It was a girls' holiday (15 people) to Magaluf about 10 years ago. All names have been changed to protect identity.

On the second day, Jane fell off the hotel balcony and broke one of her wrists and one of her legs so was laid up for the rest of the time. She was given strong painkillers.

A couple of days later, Lisa met a bloke in a bar and brought him back to the apartment. He was a complete lose canon and took most of the bottle of Jane's painkillers. He vomited everywhere in the apartment and started convulsing. So Lisa took him to hospital leaving Jane laid up in bed in the smelly apartment.

The rest of the girls came back to the apartment many hours later after a night out. They spotted and smelt the vomit and three of them also threw up. Only one of them made it to the toilet.

We tried to clear up as best as possible but we were drunk and there was so much. The complex manager put us in another apartment and charged us for the cleaning. Most of us refused to pay because it was Lisa's ONS that'd caused the problem but Lisa refused to pay for it all herself.

Lisa and Tina had a massive argument about it and an actual fist fight in which Tina got a black eye. Tina then cleaned the whole of the bathroom in the new apartment with Lisa's toothbrush and pricked holes in all the condoms Lisa had brought with her.

Meanwhile, the Drs refused to give Jane additional painkillers to replace those eaten by the ONS because they thought she was dealing them. So Jane had to report the stolen painkillers to the police so that the Dr would give her more. It took a couple of days but she got more.

Later in the week, Sophie confessed to Kim that she'd slept with Kim's boyfriend of five years. They then had a massive row by the hotel pool which one of the bar staff managed to stop before it escalated into the fight. So they didn't speak for the rest of the week and made the atmosphere generally horrible.

One night Helen drank a shit load of vodka, which she doesn't usually drink, and shit herself in the middle of a night club.

After we returned home, it turned out that ONS who'd gobbled the painkillers had given Lisa an STD.

At the same time as all this drama, we were drinking ridiculous amounts of booze every night and having ridiculous amounts of casual sex.

Fun times Hmm

I was caught in the ash cloud flight cancellation dodah. I was at a funeral, ends up staying. A week and coming home via minibus and train. 42 hours and a ferry from Calais

Surgery in Greece. That was fun. Stayed an extra week alone on a drip and strong meds either side of surgery. There'd been a plane crash and one of the patients had had a heart attack on hearing his poor dd had died. So the corridor was full of sobbing relatives. Was so distressing for them and the reason I stayed on alone, insurance wanted to fly the kids home unaccompanied and no way would we allow that. So mum flew home and then they wouldn't let anyone come to be with me. I survived

So many that I'd just out myself.

I've come home with no luggage , arrived with none, had it delayed, had it run over and had it painstakingly searched.

Had guns pulled on me in USA airport (over react much to a beeping scanner) and Tunisia
