To think DH is ruining the lawn

Lawn was a bit patchy, mossy, weedy so suggested to DH we might re-turf some of it. He's gone out and bought the turf but isn't one for looking up instructions and to me it looks like he's making a hash of it. He's just dug out the top layer off grass and laid the new stuff on top with very little prep of the soil underneath. Trying to convince him it's not going to work but he won't listen. Thinks he just needs to water it. House going on market next Saturday so quietly fretting. What do you reckon?

I have a vague memory when we had some turf laid that you also have to walk on it a bit ?

We laid turf in our old house I don't remember doing much to soil underneath. You just have to make sure it gets lots of water whilst it takes root. Grass is very resilient I'm sure it will be fine.

Make sure the ends are patted down / so they don't curl up.
Don't walk on it.
Water, water, water.

Keep watering. But it would have been easier to use lawn feed/miraclegro and it would have gone green and looked lush in 3 or 4 days

Push the ends down so they don't stick up. Put some grass seeds on the bald patches on either side. Keep watering it every day and maybe get some feed. Our turf looked like that at first but it's fine now.
