AIBU to think this isn't normal?

Some context: Today was a heat wave where we live (abroad) and also the start of a holiday weekend, so was 104 in the shade. DH is away, I am pg with DC3 and solo parenting DS1 and 2 aged nearly 7 and nearly 4 so have probably been a bit short tempered and stressed, though I thought I was handling it ok.

Most of the day was mainly ok with the usual few niggles/ arguments between the boys etc but nothing major. But this evening DS1 totally melted down when I told him off for being rude to his younger brother and then an art project thing he was working on went wrong and started saying "I hate myself. Everything I do is terrible... I'm stupid." It was devastating to hear. He can be sensitive and often a bit overdramatic but is this a sign that there is a serious problem/ that he is depressed? or is it just a normal kid thing to say and a result of heat and exhaustion and irritation? I'm so worried.

Thanks in advance.
