Person A dropped person Bs phone.

There is now a crack in the screen. Top right hand side.

Person B wants person As phone until person A has fixed person Bs screen.

Person B deems their phone broken, person A claims that a crack in screen does not a broken phone make.

Person A and person B are now not on speaking terms.

Person A should pay for the repair to B's phone. I don't see think person B is entitled to A's phone though.

Butttons · 02/09/2017 21:20

I'd say both are being a bit unreasonable. A cracked screen doesn't stop a phone from functioning per se but I think it's a bit U for person B to demand person A's phone. Why can't person A pay for person B's phone to be fixed. Which person are you?

AlexanderHamilton · 02/09/2017 21:21

Person A is right.

LastMangoInPeckham · 02/09/2017 21:22

I'm person A and am of course offering to pay for phone to be repaired. Person B states a cracked screen equals broken phone and therefore is unhappy with proposed solution.

Christ, if this dispute is between a "couple", A and B's relationship is a bigger issue than a cracked screen.

AlexanderHamilton · 02/09/2017 21:25

If person A & B are a couple & there's a really important reason Person b needs to be contactable then borrowing the others phone for the actual time it's in the repair shop may be reasonable.

Other

Bluntness100 · 02/09/2017 21:26

Blimey, whomever b is they can't demand your phone, that's just weird. Pay for the repair yes, but don't hand over your phone.

Who are they to you?

Wigeon · 02/09/2017 21:26

Does B expect A to pay for a new phone? Surely repairing the screen would be cheaper?

Penfold007 · 02/09/2017 21:26

Person B needs to claim on their insurance Grin and person A pay the excess.

DailyMailDontStealMyThread · 02/09/2017 21:28

Person A pays for repair and person B uses phone until its repaired.

YouCantArgueWithStupid · 02/09/2017 21:28

Persons A & B need to get into bed and fuck it out!

missmollyhadadolly · 02/09/2017 21:29

They don't get your phone! Give them the repair money and tell them to bugger off. If it's your partner, tell him/her to grow up!

LastMangoInPeckham · 02/09/2017 21:29

Grilled sadly I think you make a very astute observation...

By is being unreasonable.

My screen has had a crack in it for over a year. Works fine.

EllaHen · 02/09/2017 21:31

B ffs.

WatchingFromTheWings · 02/09/2017 21:32

Phones not broken, it's just a crack in the screen. The person dropping it should pay for it to be fixed. Most places can do it in about half an hour.

MadamePomfrey · 02/09/2017 21:33

B is being unreasonable A pays for the repair but mistakes happen! Screen repairs only take about an hr don't they??

Completely agree with the PPs though if you are both in a relationship you have much bigger problems!

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 02/09/2017 21:34

I think the crack in your relationship should be the one you worry about!

DP cracked my screen. I was annoyed but go over it as it doesn't affect the use! It didn't even cross my mind to borrow his shit Samsung phone

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 02/09/2017 21:35

Oh and if Bs phone is an iPhone then they crack just at the thought of someone dropping it (exactly why I have a gorilla screen on mine)

ButchyRestingFace · 02/09/2017 21:49

From the OP, I assumed this was a dispute between your 12 and 14 year old children.

From your second post, I assumed it was a dispute between a couple, one of whom was behaving like a child.

Your proposal is perfectly reasonable, imo. Tell B to sling their hook.

MyPatronusIsAUnicorn · 02/09/2017 21:49

Clearly you should pay for the screen, but the phone isn't broken to the point it can't be used and I thought this was going to be between friends, not partners! B is a twat.

sobeyondthehills · 02/09/2017 21:51

I smashed the screen of my partners screen, as in you couldn't use it. He was upset, but nothing major

AgentZigzag · 02/09/2017 21:52

Unless you cracked it by throwing at B out of sheer frustration, and not even then, B isn't entitled to your phone.

It was an accident.

They must know that and are maybe getting something out of needling you?

InvisibleKittenAttack · 02/09/2017 22:00

How well does the phone work? I have had a cracked screen where it was fine for ages to use, I've had a cracked screen that meant I could read texts that came in and recieve calls, but it was a right faff to send any messages or make calls, effectively the touch screen stopped working properly. I've also had a cracked screen that had a sharp edge tht would hurt if you tried to run your finger over the screen, making it hard to use.

If it's perfectly fine to use, then person B is being silly.

Get it fixed tomorrow/Monday.
