I live on a very quiet residential street right opposite a park. The house next to the park is a large 4/5 bed family home that has just been rented out. I am a bit concerned as it seems to have been turned into a house of multiple occupancy and in the last week, some very large and clearly disturbed men who now seem to live in the property have been shouting at each other and hanging round on the front drive - they seem to have some sort of issues based on what I have seen of their interactions. How can I find out what the building is now used for? I'm suspecting sheltered accommodation for a specific purpose and would just like to reassure myself. Residents have had no consultation on this so I'm hoping they're just a little odd but the park is next to my child's primary too and it makes me uncomfortable.

You can check if it's a registered HMO with the council.

Are you in Hampshire OP? If so I know of a group of roads that have houses that are slowly being bought up one by one and turned into exactly what you describe. I arrange mortgages and I've arranged quite a few for people moving away from these roads. If not Hampshire then must be a new trend, I believe a HMO application is made but it's not something you can object to. I could be wrong though, check with your council.
