I find this a bit depresing :(

look how happy and bright the kids are in the morning, then they come back and look either defeated, miserable or are shattered

They are shattered. It's very tiring all that learning

Perhaps they look like that because they don't want to go home.

They are just knackered that's all. They always look like that knackered.

They'd look the same after 6 hours at the park, zoo or soft play.

A day with 20+ other kids to play with and unlimited access to outdoor activities, paint, messy play, dressing up clothes, musical instruments, building blocks and a load of new toys is going g to leave the average 4 year old pretty exhausted, but it's by no means a bad thing.

Just meeting a new classful of people is pretty tiring, even for an adult.

It's pretty normal to be tired after a full day of activity, no? They'd look equally knackered after a day at a theme park or whatever.

Mine did. They fucking hated it.

That's hilarious! School IS tiring.

Not depressing at all! Just becuase they are tired does not mean they are unhappy or dislike school.
