NDN in our terrace has their tumble dryer on. Their utility is next to our bedroom, but ground floor.

It's normally background noise, and who cares?

But tonight there's the thud....thud..thud....thud thud thud......... Thud of what is probably trainers!

Argh! It's not even rhythmic! :(

You can tumble dry trainers! That will take forever misses point of thread

Yes I agree it's too late, I feel guilty even in day time just washing trainers as noise pisses me off

Grilledaubergines · 31/08/2017 22:29

Oh I tumble dry drainers after a good machine wash. They come out like new. But I do mine during the day as it creates so much noise.

Fruitboxjury · 31/08/2017 22:30

I wouldn't think anything of it tbh, it's not going to go on all night. If it happens regularly say something but a one off? Meh.

yy to tumble drying trainers though, quicker than you'd think. Hair dryer also works well.

My tumblr dryer came with a shelf for drying trainers. I've never used it but assumed when people talked about putting trainers in a dryer they used a shelf. Having them bash around in the drum sounds bonkers.

Yes, but sandwich I'm a grumpy bag

I tried to tumble dry trainers but it broke the tumble dryer belt!!!
It was very noisy too!!

DumbledoresApprentice · 31/08/2017 22:40

Yes, it clips into the central point at the back of the drum and a bit at the front under the door. The trainers or anything you don't want rolling around the drum just sit in the shelf. I've used it to dry slippers once but only once.

@dumbledores I have shelf envy! Trainers usually take about 2days to dry - the converse type to.

Do you all way your trainers in pillowcase. I loves my washing machine more than my cooker.

So OP are the neighbours trainers dry yet

KweenOfFarts · 31/08/2017 23:30

I stuff wet trainers with newspapers and put them on/under their radiator. In the summer, I turn on the towel rail for them

PickAChew · 31/08/2017 23:36

You can get a trainer shelf for John Lewis/AEG dryers.

I do occasionally end up tumble drying late into the evening - like last night when I had pissy bedding that still needed drying - but I'd draw the line at something so thuddy! That said, a couple of pairs of DS1's jammie bottoms have drawstrings with cords that are wrapped at the ends and they make so much noise!

pjdrama · 31/08/2017 23:40

Just tie laces together and close laces in the door... noise solved.
