Hahahahahahahaha

Now that's an episode of Sheriffs / Bailiffs / Won't Pay / Slum Landlords that I'd like to watch!

MunchMunch · 31/08/2017 21:33

So is the job centre not really the dwp? More like atos/capita where it's contracted out?

Idontevencareanymore · 31/08/2017 21:40

I wonder if the building is leased or something.
I saw something earlier but unsure if it's the same job centre.

GreatFuckability · 31/08/2017 21:45

the building will be leased. its probably nothing to do with the DWP.

monicasflashlight · 31/08/2017 21:51

Talk about can't pay we'll take it away!

I hope they feel truly embarrassed!

Although it's funny and a bit of karma towards the DWP I guarantee claimants will have benefits stopped automatically and seen as a no show for signing on and it won't just be as easy for them to be re instated.
This will mess a lot of people's money up who rely on next to nothing anyway

MehMehAndMeh · 31/08/2017 22:12

How many people who couldn't turn up to their appointments are going to get sanctioned because of this. Being in a coma is not reason enough for them, this won't be either.

DoesAnyoneReadTheseThings · 31/08/2017 22:23

The article I read said it was because of another company in the building not actually the job centre but the whole building had to be closed so they couldn't enter. DWP have confirmed no one will lose benefits or be sanctioned because of it so hopefully that's the case for everyone who signs on there. I guess they will have to go to the next nearest job centre while it's closed though so hope they get their travel costs refunded as well.

Bearfrills · 31/08/2017 22:39

Our local MP (Ronnie Campbell) has been shit hot on this. He's gotten an assurance from the DWP that travel costs will be reimbursed and that no one will be sanctioned as a result of the closure.

Having visited Blyth job centre I imagine the staff might be secretly pleased as they seem to actively hate anyone who walks through the door. I was there with someone and was spoken to like absolute shit by the security guard, the woman greeting people at the door, and the woman on the desk. This couldn't have happened to a more deserving team of people.

BabychamSocialist · 31/08/2017 22:50

Brilliant - I f**king hate the DWP and their vile sanctions regime. This couldn't have happened to a bigger bunch of twats. If they're anything like our local jobcentre, they actively treat people like pieces of shit on the bottom of their shoe.

staceykara · 31/08/2017 23:10

My partner is on jobseekers allowance and I am a stay at home mam at the minute with my baby son. He was supposed to sign on on the Wednesday just gone we rely mainly on his money we are currently broke at the minute and was supposed to be paid on Monday. He was unable to sign on due to them twats not paying rent. Will we be paid automatically anyway? And BabychamSocialist is completely right I was getting bloods taken at the doctor's so my partner took my son with him and he was told that he couldn't sign on until I came to collect our child. I also was spoke to like a 2 year old there and I don't even sign on! What makes them think they can act like a god looking down on people!!!!!! They honestly boil my blood

Bearfrills · 31/08/2017 23:43

Stacey, he should go to either Ashington or Cramlington Job centre. Not sure where the Ashington one is but the Cramlington one is in Manor Walks.

PickAChew · 31/08/2017 23:48

Aye. There's a notice saying that benefits shouldn't e affected, but you can guarantee that they will be

LucieLucie · 31/08/2017 23:53

What a nasty post @monicasflashlight

You do realise the only people who'll suffer from this are the ones who were due to sign on this week.

Many JSA and ESA claimants will end up sanctioned with housing benefits also affected.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 31/08/2017 23:59

They've still kept their jobs though, so
Not too much egg on their faces
