Just had ds3 to the GP after several episodes of breathlessness /gasping episodes after laughing /coughing and during the night. Dh has asthma and was concerned it had made an appearance to ds.

All good, no wheeze he could detect, throat healthy and no blockage. Ds very cooperative even when gp joked about calling round to have a turn on his scooter!!
Then he told me to make sure ds didn't rush his meals and to eat slowly (??!!)
I just sat there somewhat Confusedand smiled and left. .
GP is lovely but has a very heavy accent and i was trying to figure out what he could have meant as it didn't really make any sense!!
Maybe he has a thing about dc having good table manners or am I missing something?
No chance in Hell of getting another app this side of Xmas to discuss it either!!

Mrscropley · 31/08/2017 20:01

Does he suspect your DS has some sort of reflux maybe?

QueenNefertitty · 31/08/2017 20:02

Or maybe that he's got wind and the gasping is due to trapped wind?

Mrscropley · 31/08/2017 20:05

I explained they ds had been floppy and panicky at the week end as he couldn't take a breath, he just said he was fine!!
Well hope he is right. . .

Perhaps GP is concerned about choking? Could you ring and ask the secretary for clarification?

I would ring and leave a message with reception saying that you didn't understand some advice he gave and would like clarification. He will hopefuly call you back or get a message to you.

you should have asked at the time but I can think of countless times i have left the doctors surgery and immeidately thought, "damn why didn't I ask..."so know how you feel

Perhaps it's allergies. Does this happen only at home? Do you have any pets or problems with mould?
