To have lied and said my ink has run out...

DSDs mum and I get on well. We live close by and it's all very friendly between us all.
But... For the past 4 years she has been using our printer whenever she needs to print something. I don't mind if it's for DSD homework (well I do a bit but not that much) but this morning I got a text telling me that a friend of hers needed to print off some important documents could she use our printer.
I ignored the message to start with because my baby was asleep and if she came round to print Id have to do it all and my baby might have woken up but the more o thought about it the more irritated I became until I just said that we've run out of ink and couldn't help her.
AIBU?
Wish I wasn't forced to hadn't lied but it's out of order isn't it?

Yanbu ink is expensive 🤷🏻‍♀️

BarbarianMum · 29/08/2017 19:09

YANBU- you shouldn't be doing her printing on a regular basis, let alone her friends!

Esspee · 29/08/2017 19:13

She shouldn't be taking you for granted, and asking you to help out a friend of hers was completely out of order. I had a friend who came round a couple of times asking me to print photos for her. Finally stopped it by giving her a note of which ink cartridges and photographic paper was needed. Mysteriously she found she didn't need the third batch done and has never asked again.

You definitely shouldn't be printing stuff for half the town. She's taking advantage.

Do you have MUG written across your forehead?
or maybe PRONTAPRINT?

Stellato · 29/08/2017 20:02

I'd buy her a printer for Christmas.

FallingOrbit · 29/08/2017 20:05

No, that's not unreasonable. Printers are cheap as chips but ink certainly isn't. I mean the odd page here and there sure, no biggie, but all the time? YANBU.

Not at all.
