Just seen a lorry drift across motorway lanes and over hardshoulder - driver was texting!! Really annoyed that I didn't manage to get a registration plate but wondered if anyone had ever reported someone for this and whether anything came of it.

God that's frightening. It's bad enough when drivers of regular vehicles textso stupid, so self-importantbut a lorry with its weight...I don't even want to think about it.

And yes, it's taken very seriously by the bosses.

Not a lorry driver but a middle lane hogger on an empty motorway drifting all over.
Dd took picture of guy on phone, I took picture of number plate. Dh driving Wink.
Reported on line. Got an a reply back from the police saying is I was prepared to go to court then to follow a link within the email.
Sadly, it was far, far from home and I couldn't commit, so didn't follow it up.

I phoned a company the other week. It's a major company in our city. I told them and they were disgusted with their driver. Especially after the weekends awful crash. He is in charge of a potential killing machine.

Ifailed · 29/08/2017 09:00

It is unforgivable, yes. However, I know a few truck drivers and they say some companies expect them to both read and respond to texts. Maybe that's something that should be addressed?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/08/2017 09:00

Did it have a company name. If so Google them and get in touch.
Just tell them where roughly you were. They should be able to track him.
He needs taken off the road before he kills someone, because. If he's done it once. He'll do it again.

This really pisses me off too. I see drivers texting all the time and get really angry about it. Sometimes I beep at them as it's the most I can do. Other than U-turn, chase them and ram them off the road.

If you know what company it was email them with the time and place of the incident.

My ds always takes a note book in the car so he can scribble down law breaking registration plates for me to report them.

I haven't noticed any improvement since the ban on people using their phones. We went on an hour away trip yesterday and saw at least 50 drivers blatantly using their phones.
