Ebayer taking the piss?

Tobythecat · 28/08/2017 14:23

Listed a load of stuff that has ended on ebay, woman has won a dress and just messaged me to say she will make payment next weekend. What the fuck? I am using Hermes to pick them all up tomorrow as its much easier than going to the post office with 30 parcels. AIBU to tell her to piss off?

Tell her no, and relist, cheeky made!

Namechangetempissue · 28/08/2017 14:24

Yanbu.

FallingOrbit · 28/08/2017 14:25

No, that's not on. Wait for the appropriate time period to pass (can't remember what it is atm) and file NPB. She's taking the piss.

WineAndTiramisu · 28/08/2017 14:25

YANBU but expecting everyone to pay immediately is probably asking for trouble, think eBay state you should pay within 7 days in their terms and conditions

SlaveToDisney · 28/08/2017 14:26

Say no sorry eBay times are payment with 72 hours of the listing ending. If she cannot make payment within that time frame the item will be relisted. Unless she's won it for a decent price and your willing to wait for the payment but absolouteky do not send it until payment has been received.

Amd724 · 28/08/2017 14:28

I just sold on ebay, thought the period of waiting for payment was like 2 days but I could be wrong. But waiting until next weekend is way too long.

AllToadsLeadToHome · 28/08/2017 14:37

I also think it is 2 days before you can start the non-paying process. You could tell her that Ebay will automatically start the process if payment is not received but other than that you might end up with a defect.

You could ask her if she can get the buy now pay later thing on PayPal, not sure if everyone can do it.

Or let her pay when she has the money, she may not have much to live on, and post it with Royal Mail. Take a look at her feedback and see what it is like, both received and left for others. I would wait because it is only one item and she might be genuine.

AllToadsLeadToHome · 28/08/2017 14:38

You could avoid this happening by listing BIN with immediate payment for future listings.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 28/08/2017 14:49

You're lucky you sold 30 items! My stuff tends to sell in dribs and drabs so this would not be a problem. When I sell on Ebay I'm just grateful someone's bought it and willing to wait. Even if you relist you won't be able to send with others. Are you sure you'll sell it if you relist? For as much?

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 28/08/2017 14:53

IME (and I have sold a lot) she is rare to contact you to ask. I would do it for her. There again, maybe I'm rare. I bend over backwards for buyers, sending things quicker, even without waiting for payment on one occasion, sending freebies, gift wrapping and all sorts!!

ahatlikeprincessmarina · 28/08/2017 14:55

How much do Hermes charge for doing that?

19lottie82 · 28/08/2017 14:58

Realistically by the time you've opened a non payment case and waited for it to time out, then she prob would have paid, so although I wouldn't be too happy I'd say ok.

19lottie82 · 28/08/2017 15:00

2 days (to open non payment case) + 3 days (until you can close case) + ? Days to relist and resell.

You will be cutting your nose off to spite your face if you say no.

HundredMilesAnHour · 28/08/2017 15:06

Did you have other bidders? If you did, I'd just go to the next best offer and sell it to them. If you didn't, I'd be annoyed with her but wait out the week.

Cailleach666 · 28/08/2017 15:09

I sell 600 items a month on ebay.

grandOlejukeofYork · 28/08/2017 15:09

Just tell her no.

BTW, she hasn't "won" anything. She's bought it, or not if she doesn't pay for it.

Dodie66 · 28/08/2017 15:10

I seek on eBay and have a regular buyer that doesn't pay sometimes for two weeks but I'm happy to wait because I know he pays and he's a good customer. I have another one that doesn't pay and had to open an unpaid item case then he pays.
Don't send anything till you get payment

19lottie82 · 28/08/2017 15:17

hundred you can only really do that if the buyer agrees to cancel, because if you sell it to another buyer the original buyer can still pay until a non payment case is raised and closed out. If you have 2 buyers both paying for the same item you will get a defect and a high risk of negative feedback.

Miserylovescompany2 · 28/08/2017 15:23

Open a non payment case after 48 hrs of sale ending - she should of asked prior to bidding! (Close after 5 days) you can preset your settings to automaticly open non payment cases.

Add the cheeky bint to your blocked bidders list...

PeaFaceMcgee · 28/08/2017 15:26

I'd rather send separately than all the faff of opening dispute etc. She can give you negative feedback.

PeaFaceMcgee · 28/08/2017 15:27

eBay weighted far more in favour of buyers

mummabubs · 28/08/2017 15:28

This is why I specify "immediate payment" when listing, or within 48 hours if I know I'm able to post it a bit later... next weekend is taking the piss!! I don't understand why anyone would bid on an item that they know they can't pay for until a weeks time, it wouldn't fly in the supermarket would it if you got the checkout and then said "oh, by the way I'll be paying for this next week" 😂😂

Viviennemary · 28/08/2017 15:30

If she can't make the payment within Ebay rules then relist. that's plain cheeky of her. And I agree this 'winning' is mad. They're buying the item they haven't won a prize.

PeaFaceMcgee · 28/08/2017 15:32

Next weekend is just 5 days though. At least the buyer let you know.

ChelleDawg2020 · 28/08/2017 15:35

YABVU - you're using Hermes!
