Bil visit and the dreaded lurgy

5month old baby and I have been sick all week (me breastfeeding whilst clinging o sick bucket - her unpredictably projectile vomiting over various bits of furniture. Fun times.). BIL has booked to come over for the bank holiday weekend. I suggest to DH he might want to put it off to avoid our illness. DH tells him about it but he still comes.

I've nipped out to shop when BIL arrives, get in to find he had a nasty cold. He's literally blowing his nose then stroking the babies face without washing his hands in between/getting up close and breathing in her face. DH saying nothing whilst this goes on.

Bit later when we are getting food DH tells BiL to handle my food with his unwashed hands and is a bit Hmm when I jump in and (politely) insist only I touch my food...

DH later wants us to all share food out of a bag but I pretend I'm not interested.

Would this stuff bother you? Can't tell if I'm being unreasonable about the cold stuff or if the previous week of sickness has made me especially germphobic and intolerant!

bit grim but he's braved the vomiting so he can't be all bad.

What kind of shit for brains brings sickness into the same house as a baby?!

CosmicPineapple · 28/08/2017 11:24

I cant get stressed about colds.
You pick them up everywhere and unless you live in a bubble or never leave the house then your child and you will catch them.

Will you and DH move out for a week if you catch a cold so that you dont pass it on to baby?

DV bugs are different but a cold does not require me to quarantine the family.

He should wash his hands before handling food or the baby though.

Euw, if he's blowing his nose, he needs to wash his hands thoroughly before handling food and baby.

Nanny0gg · 28/08/2017 12:29

Just make him wash his hands.

say something!

Racingraccoons · 28/08/2017 12:52
