AIBU to ghost this "friend"

For putting GOT spoiler on my facebook timeline when I haven't seen it yet?

This is probably the last straw. She was always so dismissive of it before I made her watch the first episode a few weeks back when season 7 started. After 3 episodes she was hooked and spent all her free time watching every single episode to catch up. And now this morning, i have spoilers on my timeline from early hours of stupid o clock where she's obviously stayed up till 2 am to watch to season finale.

This is just one example of the kind of thing she does.

Her opinion on everything is the be all and end all according to her. In her own words "you're life would be so much better if you listened to me" after I told her about getting counselling.

There is other stuff but it would out me too much if i wrote it.

I cba if its always a competition!!

Will post more context/examples in a bit. But need to jump in the shower!!

Yes, she sounds annoying

PaganGoddessBrigid · 28/08/2017 10:13

She really said ''your life would be so much better if you listened to me''. Wow. That's extreme.

I do know one woman who appoints herself the expert of any subject I raise. Could be anything from driving an automatic to, job-hunting to the 5:2 diet, she assumes she is in a position to tell me how it really is and how to do it all better. I tell myself it is just my ego wounded and that it doesn't effect me in any real way if she assumes she knows more than I do and can teach me, no matter what the subject is! But it's irritating and baffling but she does have good points too.

AragornsManlyStubble · 28/08/2017 10:22

She'd be gone from my life for the spoiler alone. Only I'm allowed to spoil GOT for myself. Not that I will watch it anymore because of the dragon. Not cool. Well actually quite cool.

crabbiepattie · 28/08/2017 10:23

Nah. This is more than annoying. She's recently decided to re decorate. Same colours as my house.

And she also seems to be a recent expert in my field of work...she doesn't work and refuses to.

Posting spoilers would massively piss me off. YANBU to ghost her just for that.

BulletFox · 28/08/2017 10:34

What does 'ghost' her mean? It sounds like coming back from the grave to give her a fright

JacquesHammer · 28/08/2017 10:41

If you want to avoid spoilers the onus is on you to avoid social media, not to police what other people discuss.

If its a final straw for you, then back out of the friendship, but have the balls to do it properly not ghost her. Its cowardly and unkind.

AWendyAteMyFitbit · 28/08/2017 10:45

Still baffled as to why sheeple I mean people are only getting into this now

AlternativeTentacle · 28/08/2017 10:54

Ghost her? I'd just bin her. Spoilers on something I'd got her into...inexcusable.

FlyingElbows · 28/08/2017 10:57

Aragorns, it just got a whole lot cooler Wink

PilesOfSmiles · 28/08/2017 10:59

Why does there have to be a technical term like 'ghosting' for everything?

I'm sure this really means ignoring someone annoying.

I'm sure there must be more back story more serious I hope because tjyebwhole spoiler thing sounds a bit pathetic.

Just ignore her

PilesOfSmiles · 28/08/2017 10:59

The whole *

crabbiepattie · 28/08/2017 11:13

Pileofsmiles - there is. Everything I do is shit apparently.

OP posts:
Slimthistime · 28/08/2017 11:16

If you want to avoid spoilers you avoid social media
But apart from that she sounds horrible anyway

GabsAlot · 28/08/2017 13:19

the spoiler thing cant do much about if its been o you'll find out someewheere else

the otheer stuff get rid shes either jealous of u or just needs help

crabbiepattie · 28/08/2017 14:11

To add insult to injury....the woman tells me quite often that I am lazy because my MIL helps with housework. I have 3 children under 8 and a full time job.
She whinges when shes been up till 3am playing xbox then whinges about being tired.

Another "episode" told my DTGs to stay outside when I went round to get something off her. Was going to stay and have a natter but sharpish left. Apparently my kids aren't allowed in her house all at once because they make a mess.

And the other day in the playcentre - about DS.

Hes my boy.
Me: But I'm his mum (a bit perplexed)
Her: No ur not. I'm his mummy.

Its all very petty stuff but annoying and a tad creepy/stalkerish sometimes.

So sorry to drip feed too. Things are.coming to me as I remember them/potter about the house.

OP posts:
MargaretTwatyer · 28/08/2017 14:16

Er, she said she was your son's 'mummy'. That's psycho territory.

PaganGoddessBrigid · 28/08/2017 14:20

She's tells you to your face that you're lazy and that your life would be better if you did what she said?

This is bizarre!

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 28/08/2017 14:21

Bin her and tell her why. Main reason being she a complete weirdo twat.

My ex friend dropped a huge spoiler on the last Harry Potter book when I was 8 months pregnant. Ten years later, it still pisses me off.

crabbiepattie · 28/08/2017 14:22

Yep. I was a bit/a lot taken aback.

DH doesn't see anything wrong though.

OP posts:
crabbiepattie · 28/08/2017 14:24

Re:DH not seeing anything wrong - about the whole situation. Not the her calling DS her son.

OP posts:
Nikephorus · 28/08/2017 14:25

She sounds a twat. Find a new friend.

crabbiepattie · 28/08/2017 14:27

Funny that. Cause that's her nickname for me.

That's probably totally outed me. But TBH i dont give a monkeys anymore.

OP posts:
Magicnumbers · 28/08/2017 14:28

It doesn't sound like you want a friendship anymore- don't blame you. Agree with poster above, I would just ditch her completely as I don't see why you want this in your life.

If you still have to/want to speak to her I would actually start calling her out on this stuff. Eg "you have just ruined GOT for me, that's really made me angry, please don't do that again". Or "it's not appropriate or funny to joke about you being DS's Mummy". She might actually not realise how she sounds. Then again, maybe she does!

crabbiepattie · 28/08/2017 14:32

Ill have to be civil as she lives 3 doors down and our DCs go to the same school. Although ill be doing breakfast club at 8am in the car. She will be walking at 8.50. And unless I go there, she never comes here.
