That Lidl Prosecco Offer

AIBU to be about how many people are up in arms about not being able to get a bottle of cheap fizz. The outrage and number of complaints on FaceyB about how people missed out on a bottle of £3.50 plonk is bonkers. Isn't it normally only a fiver anyway? wish people got as cross about serious stuff

I'd barely registered it and went to do my usual early shop before it gets busy this morning. Wish I hadn't.

I was actually shoved out the way going into the store and someone pushed my trolley out the way to get to the prosseco pallet once inside.

The poor staff were getting masses of grief from dissapointed customers who hadn't arrived as store opened.

The run was over by 8.10 and other than lots of people coming in and leaving empty handed the store when back to its early Saturday am state of peace.

It was poorly thought out over advertised and under delivered. They should have given out free tea bags to those who didn't get the offer. My normal very quiet morning shop was a fair bit more stressful than usual and I did the very British thing of sitting and drinking tea to recover when I got home. Not used to such earlyish morning shopping stress.

Oh and I didn't get any Prosecco. I didn't want to fight over it. The pain o chocolat had just come out the oven so I got one of those instead.

If I wanted any prosecco this weekend I'd drive to the next town, where there is a large Muslim population!

Is it any good, btw?

Checkout guy this morning said it'd been like the Next sale first thing.

My daughter went to Lidl very early too.none left .it was ridiculous she said.so sounds like lidl messed up.if all stores were the same

The Aldi one is just so much nicer. Really....Hic.

It was like when Morrisons did the tomahawk steak deal. Each store only had two delivered which both sold within 10 mins.

Prosecco is crap.
Cava is way nicer and better made, like champagne it is fermented in individual bottles and nothing added.
Prosecco is made in tanks and all sorts of shit added. It's truly rotten and if people just realised how yuck it was compared to nice cava then I'm convinced they'd never drink it again.

Buying cheap wine is a false economy.

All that has happened is that people have got whipped up into a frenzy over nothing. And then the media report on the one store that had queues of people and get everyone else excited.

I like Cava but find it a bit too dry.

It isn't a £3.99 Prosecco. It's on promotion.

Well, in actual Conegliano, you can get a glass of prosecco for €1 at the train station (I was passing through with an hour to kill) I can assure you it is not crap! Over here we just pay a nuts amount of duty on it.

It tastes fucking horrible no wonder they had to reduce it.
