Hi all.

I recently helped a friend fill in a pip form, she's moving on from DLA and is currently on middle care, no mobility.

She's already been told it's pretty much a given she'll be put onto a higher rate (( she has a progressive illness, she can no longer use her hands and pretty much relies on a wheelchair now )) in all honesty she should have applied over a year ago but like a lot of people was scared of it being taken away so waited until they contacted her.

My question is I sent the form off in December / Febuary, will she be back dated the difference if she is on an increased amount ?? Since having to give up work six months ago her debts have mounted up horribly, this would help massively in helping to atbleast clear them a little.

TIA.

The claim is normally paid from you requesting the form, via phone call or other. Its been way too long it needs chasing. I would phone and enquire.

Because she is on DLA that continues to be paid until the PIP decision is made. No back pay will be paid.

The only people who get back pay are those who are applying for a brand new claim and not a transfer.

She won't be backdated. It's one of the biggest scams in the dla to pip transfers.

As in people on dla who had a change of circumstances that would have meant a higher award I mean.

Oh that's a shame :(

I agree catspurr, it is far too long. She recently had a letter saying theyre looking at her claim so hopefully not much longer. It's bad enough she's had to give up her career and home without having to live like this.

The change to PIP worked in my favour as I got a much higher award than previously. But I know people who have lost it or been downgraded.

It's a very confusing system.
