To not want someone stood smoking on me doorstep constantly?

Yes I'm in a flat above a hairdressers in London and it's a busy street. There's a new beautician started and she is forever stood on my doorstep smoking. She's moved the fag buts buts it's really annoying I can see her through the top of my door when I'm going down the stairs. I'm always rushing for work and seeing her just rubs me up the wrong way. Why can't she just stand outside her own shop? Why on my step so I have to ask her to move everytime I'm coming in out? I don't want to fall out with them as they hate my cat am I being irrational as it is a public walkway?

Train your cat to shit on her doorstep.

Or you do it.

If she reeks of fags whilst doing up close beauty treatments she won't be there long.

No my cat is not allowed out front way

Sneak up on the door instead and open it fast, every time. Either she'll end up on her back or be too unnerved to stand there anymore.

I do that she doesn't give a shit as she's always on the phone. Is she allowed to be there given that the shop is downstairs?

It's worth a friendly chat with the shop owner maybe? It's likely they've told her not to stand in or near the shop doorway as it wouldn't look good for customers, so she's chosen yours as it's close. Perhaps she could move a bit further away if they know it bothers you.

No it's not. They said my cat is cursed as she bloody well walked in there back entrance one day and scared them all. So they don't engage with me.

'Move off my property please' just after you've opened the door very quickly into her back. No apologies from you.
'Get off my property and out of my way' when you return.

Maybe plan a couple of little trips in and out of your flat if you know when she goes for her fag breaks.

If it'd only you that uses it first your flat can't you block it off some how?

ScrambledSmegs · 26/08/2017 21:11

Hang on - do they think your cat is actually cursed, or did they curse your cat?

Could you stsrt at the beginning again please? I'm afraid I'm confused!

Is the doorway she stands in only yours or is it shared with the shop / other flats?

Do you rent or own? Do you rent from whoever owns the shop?

I would open the door every time i saw her there (like i thought she was a visitor - 'hello, can i help you?') but i think you might have tried that?

I don't understand about your cat - do they think it's cursed or did they tell you they had cursed it for going in the shop?

My little cat went through their back window one rainy morning to shelter. She never really goes out and won't be making that mistake again they chased her with a broom. One girl dropped her scissors and ran out the salon. In all the hysteria I was told cats are bad luck and evil. That's not what this post is about though. I'm just telling you why we don't really talk to each other. Last week I had a pile of brand new magazines that I took down for them and they said to me they had no need for them so I took them to the doctors across the road. I have tried. I've recently looked after the baby of one of the hairdressers for quite Afew weeks so that will be interesting when she goes back to work.

I assume this door step hogger rents a chair off them. She said to me tonight what's your problem I'm only stood on your step I'm not in your flat. It's one entrance. Two flats. And my neighbours said they have to ask her to move as well.
