Buy a new one

If you cant open it then you cant lock it either

Order a replacement key. There is a code on the lock

They come really fast but prob not fast enough. Can you borrow one this weekend?

CountingToThree · 24/08/2017 17:52

Go to a local locksmith, they should be able to cut a new one for you using the code on the box. We had exactly the same thing with our Halfords box

we got replacement keys next day...just ordinary order, from ebay I think.

I can ask dh when he gets in.

DingDongDenny · 24/08/2017 18:06

Take it to a safari park - the monkeys will open it for you Wink

toolonglurking · 24/08/2017 18:10

A hammer?

amazonEcho · 24/08/2017 18:16

are you near Liverpool?

hettie · 24/08/2017 20:09

Argh! Thanks for all the tips... Just missed key place and replace may takes 2-3 days to arrive.
We've revised our packing, luckily weather looks okish so let's assume the endless changes of clothes, waterproof trousers etc will indeed be surplus to requirements plus dh was persuaded not to take the tent porch Smile

A locksmith would probably be able to open it with a set of jigglers. My rather crude way of dealing with this type of lock is a large flat blade screwdriver with a hex shank for gripping with a spanner. Insert the screwdriver and twist in the normal opening direction. Usually the spring clip on the back pops off and the lock comes out, if not the barrel breaks out and just turn. It's very quick and quite...never put valuables in a top box!

I have some advice based on what happened to us recently. I brought my son from Germany to study in Nottingham and we took his stuff also in a roof box. Unfortunately, we forgot the key to the Thule lock and could not open the box. We surfed a bit on the internet and lastly found an excellent and elegant solution. We found a locksmith who was able to produce a new key to the box based on the specific number these locks have in a matter of minutes (for GBP 3,50); we were extremely relieved and I wanted to just share this experience, as I presume there will be some people who will be having the same problem.
