Pregnancy Tests

Hi all, I'm totally new to this so forgive me for any bad traits!

I had my coil removed a couple of months ago, recently I started displaying lots of symptoms (bloating, sore boobs etc) i was due on my period last week, I had a couple of days spotting but that was it. Yesterday I done 2 tests that show faint lines. I called the dr this morning who told me to refer myself as this means I am pregnant.
Getting excited I wanted to know how far I am (as the lines are only faint I was guessing just a few weeks if that) so I bought the digital test to tell me... This says not pregnant. I really don't know what to do now. Am I imagining the faint lines? Is the digital test wrong?
I am going to be devastated if I go to the midwife appointment and they tell me I am not pregnant.
Please help. Tell me I'm not imagining this ?

Thanks in advance

I can see a very faint line, but it is faint.

Perhaps wait a little longer?

Queenofthestress · 22/08/2017 16:32

No, i can see it too, i would refer and go because that shows as pregnant

WineAndTiramisu · 22/08/2017 16:32

Do another test in a few days?

stalkingfred · 22/08/2017 16:34

Digital tests aren't as reliable early on I think. I can see a positive on the blue dyes though.

welshdee · 22/08/2017 16:34

Blue dye test's I wouldn't trust they can often show a faint blue line when not pregnant .
Go buy a cheap pink dye test

toomuchhappyland · 22/08/2017 16:34

Welcome to MN. There is a conception/pregnancy board which will be more helpful than AIBU Smile
This could go either way I reckon. Digital tests aren't as accurate early on as traditional ones, so it might be that you are pregnant but the test hasn't shown it. On the other hand, blue dye tests are notorious for getting evaporation lines (basically false positives). Those lines look a bit narrow and to one side. However, getting two would be unlucky. Personally I would leave it a day or two and then test with a pink dye test like First Response.

Rememberallball · 22/08/2017 16:35

Digital test need higher levels of hcg to show as positive than some non digital ones. FRER (First Response Early Results) or Superdrug pink line tests are amongst the most sensitive tests available!!

Hotpinkangel19 · 22/08/2017 22:48

That clear blue test (cross) are notorious for showing lines when not pregnant. I'd definately retest with a different pink dye test, like frer. Good luck

Thank you everyone for the advice! I'll go buy some pink dye tests 😊

Good luck op!!! Flowers

Queenofthestress · 23/08/2017 08:25

Good luck!

Saysomething88 · 23/08/2017 08:25

I had this. I was pregnant. It got darker as I waited a few days. I would def say that you are. Pink dye is easier to tell and I don't always trust the digital ones in the beginning

Sassypants82 · 23/08/2017 08:25

You can't get a false positive. There's a line there, congratulations! Also digital tests are not as accurate early on.

Saysomething88 · 23/08/2017 08:27

That doesn't look like an evaporation line. Evaporation lines tend not to have any colour in them.
Test again with pink.

AloeVeraSeeYaCilla · 23/08/2017 08:27

Retest with another brand. I've had this before and it turned into a chemical pregnancy which means the embryo starts embedding itself in the uterus and stops developing very early on, thus resulting in an early loss. It could mean a lot of things, unless you know your dates. If you continur to get light positives then ask if the GP will refer you to an early pregnancy unit where they can run repeat hcg blood tests to monitor the level of pregnancy hormones in your blood. This will give you a better indication. The digital tests do also need a higher level of hcg in the urine to detect them. I did a digital one day and it said 2-3 weeks and the following day it said 1-2 weeks. I was petrified but little baby is sat with me now. Good lick x

AloeVeraSeeYaCilla · 23/08/2017 08:27

Luck*

swingofthings · 23/08/2017 08:31

You can get false positive, I.e. evaporation lines. I had some the first month Icame off the pill and they were much darker then the OPs and first response.

Only way is to test again OP first thing in the morning.

Foreverhopeful22 · 23/08/2017 08:32

How's it going OP

nomorebabiesyet · 23/08/2017 08:35

A line is a line. With digital tests you need to be a little bit further along. I would say you are pg. Congratulations x

toomuchhappyland · 23/08/2017 09:10

nomorebabiesyet and Sassypants82 look up evaporation lines with blue dye tests. It's not a false positive as such but it is a known fault with blue tests. I had one myself which looked like the OPs but I wasn't pregnant, as a digital and pink dye test showed. Pink dye tests are more reliable.

stormytherabbit · 23/08/2017 09:39

Any luck OP?

Kirky1988 · 24/08/2017 07:29

Hi all. Sorry I am still getting used to this forum. Slight update. I took your advice and got some 'pink' tests. I did one this morning that came up negative. 😔
However, yesterday I noticed my boobs were starting to leak a little and last night I went to bed with an ache in the left side of my stomach and woke up with it still there today. I think my best bet is to see a Dr. I'm hoping they can see me today.
Thanks for all your advice. I really appreciate it. K.
