I am on a low carb diet and it's making me a bit loopy...

Housemate had a big bag of unopened crisps in her cupboard and in a state of hunger induced craziness, I opened her cupboard last night and pinched them! Of course I meant to replace them.

I get home a little later than her in the evenings and replaced as soon as I could this eve. Also bough the her a little choc bar just because!

I don't want her to think I'm a food thief though and do feel bad for pinching in the first place - she hasn't said anything but pretty sure she clocked that I took them then put them back!

Should I message her to explain the above?

If you think she really has clocked it, then you might as well just say you're going a bit mad with the low carb thing and you're sorry. But you replaced them anyway - she's not going to be hacked off about it.

Just say "sorry I took some crisps, I've now replaced them and got you chocolate to say sorry"

And then don't do it again!

One of the worst things about shared houses is when people start nicking your food. It's frustrating when it's not there when you expected it to be, even if it's later replaced.

She hasn't said anything so you are totally over thinking but make sure it was a one off as food stealers are fuckers Grin especially those who steal the nice stuff Wink

I know - I literally have never done it before! Ok well once and swiftly replaced. It's only with crisps (my Achilles heel!!) and the low carb is making it worse :( I will NOT do it again

She was coming into the room just before me and I hurled them into her cupboard Grin so yes I'm pretty sure she saw!

I'd say you're probably okay OP Grin

This reminds me (a little bit) of a story I heard of a guy who would take food/ snacks/ beer from his roommate and would leave the cash in its place! He apparently thought 'sure I gave him the money back for it, what's the problem?' but the roommate got pissed off when he'd go to the fridge for a beer and find the six pack gone with £10 there instead.
