I have very severe, chronic constipation. It's due to an underlying conditions so coffee, prunes and movicol ain't gonna cut it. I'm under the care of gastroenterology but my consultant has left and they have not replaced him. I phoned asking when I'm going to be seen and they'll let me know apparently....

I take oral laxatives, twice daily suppositories and stick a water bag hose pipe thing up my backside which isn't meant to gently ease it out. This combo worked for a while but I'm totally backed up again. Obviously I need a review but in the mean time, I feel like death.

Google tells me I can order enemas online. Previously, I had thought you need a prescription. WIBU to order a few enemas and hope for the best?

There are loads of enema kits online-it's a kink !Confused

Seriously though, is there a nurse or doc you can talk it through with first? Must be awfulFlowers

It's not Peristeen, it's called Qufora. They're nice and kind when I order my repeats but never said they have nurses. I've never asked, to be fair. I had a nurse assess and teach me for the system but she's left too. :(

Thanks for the nice words. They made me cry as I sit on the toilet yet again....!

I might try my GP but they're not very helpful as it's outside of their scope. I wonder if I'd be better off asking for a referral to another hospital with a bigger and better gastro dept.

Don't cry! Have a read of some threads in classics whilst on the loo (my favourite is EKL), Pinterest can lose me for hours sometimes .

Sounds like a good idea to ask for a referral to a larger hospital. Wine
