Am I being petty?

Flatmates used my plate and left it in garden - it is still there now. They have forgotten to bring it in! I would get it but am not their mother and this always happens Say something or stew silently?

Say it. Clear the air.

MusicToMyEars800 · 19/08/2017 23:14

I would say something, stewing quietly won't do you any good, I know that from experience Grin I would be pissed off too fwiw.

dudsville · 19/08/2017 23:14

On the one hand they are disrespecting your belongings. On the other hand the row"don't sweat the small stuff" or "choose your battles" does come to mind.

Guavaf1sh · 19/08/2017 23:15

Say innocently 'where is my plate?'

Ihavepatrick · 19/08/2017 23:15

I'd bring it in but put one of their plates in it's place.

MyKingdomForBrie · 19/08/2017 23:17

I'd probably say 'don't forget the plate!' with a smile, but if it's at this stage it's probably new flat time (as they clearly really irritate you)

CrochetBelle · 19/08/2017 23:17

"Thanks for leaving my plate outside. Since I'm assuming that nightfall brought a host of spiders to wipe their willies on my plate, I have wiped my arse on each and every one of yours. Enjoy"

Fevertree · 19/08/2017 23:20

Can you not have just asked them to bring in your plate? So petty.

Jayfee · 19/08/2017 23:21

erm not what crochet belle said unless you love confrontation

Polly85 · 19/08/2017 23:21

Why is my plate in the garden, you bellend? That'll do

Thingslikethisneverwork · 19/08/2017 23:23

Nah i don't, they're actually a good friend! But it's just the principle. They leave shit everywhere and i don't want to tidy up after them...

OP posts:
3luckystars · 19/08/2017 23:23

Can you put something of theirs on top of it?
Like pyjamas or toothbrush or thier mattress. Just to remind them but in a subtle way.

madja · 19/08/2017 23:29

Has it been darked on though belle and can you still use it if it has?! Grin

Just say something op. In a joke, not joke type of way? I don't know, I'm not good at confrontation either.

maddening · 19/08/2017 23:30

If this is a one off and the rest of their living 'style' is fine with you then don't sweat it. However if you are a tidy living style and they are a messy living style then I would look at living separately for the sake of your friendship - messy and tidy people can be the best of friends whilst not being compatible as flatmates. Equally someone who likes to party hard and bring the party home can be best mates with someone who hates to have parties back at their home - it is rare that they could live together harmoniously.
