To think you shouldn't vape in someone's car

I was asked to give a colleague a lift and agreed as it was on the way into work and she inmediately started vaping. It fucking stank and I asked if she could stop. She was quite put out and I had to stop twice (20 min journey!) for her to 'vape.'

Yanbu about vaping but why the hell did you stop? I might have stopped at a bus stop and told her to get out but stopping so she could vape? Hell no

MrTrebus · 19/08/2017 15:13

If she needs to vape that much in a 20 minute journey she has a pretty serious addiction! She probably did it to make a point. She is a silly woman. Don't offer a lift again!

Dina1234 · 19/08/2017 15:32

That is just very rude of her to start doing it in the first place.

jeaux90 · 19/08/2017 16:10

I wouldn't vape in someone's car without asking. Must have been a very smelly juice though for you to think it effing stank or did she have one of those big tanks and it produces a lot of vape?

I use e cigs, less vape and they definitely don't stink. But YANBU. It's your car.

Starlighter · 19/08/2017 16:12

What on earth?! That's so rude! No more lifts in future!

Dustbunny1900 · 19/08/2017 16:33

Your car your rules. End of.

Viviennemary · 19/08/2017 16:35

No you shouldn't. I hate vaping. Should be looked upon the same as smoking. Out of doors and away from people.

Sarikiz · 19/08/2017 16:37

YANBU its your car. I would not let someone vape in my car The woman is very rude to vape without even asking.

meltingmarshmallows · 19/08/2017 16:38

YANBU. So rude and I agree to non vapers it most definitely does smell awful.

Bluebannana · 19/08/2017 16:42

YANBU it's your car, she should have asked and respected your wishes. Personally I think that the fruity or minty vapes smell lovely though.

HungerOfThePine · 19/08/2017 17:08

Yanbu She should have atleast asked if it was ok, I vape and I visit a friend often and still ask if it's ok each time as I'm aware the smell might bother her.

AnnetteCurtains · 19/08/2017 17:10

She should have asked but it probably wouldn't have bothered me

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 19/08/2017 17:11

YABNU. And no more lifts for that entitled idiot.

HoHoHoHo · 19/08/2017 17:13

I vape and i think some of them stink. I hate the smell of the sickly vanilla ones. I wouldn't even ask to vape in someone's car unless they smoked or vaped themselves. I'd just have some before i got in and wait until we get to the destination.

ItsNachoCheese · 19/08/2017 17:19

My dsis nearly smashed my car window with a plank of wood because i refused to let her vape in my car... never mind she had my 2yo ds in the passenger seat and me and her 2 dd's in the back. I dont care what she does in her own house or car but i do when its my car

miniwalrus · 19/08/2017 17:34

It was a horrible sickly fruity smell, like cheap air freshner.

Glumglowworm · 19/08/2017 17:46

Yanbu

Why on earth did you stop for her though?

PinkHeart5911 · 19/08/2017 17:48

Blimey who can't go 20 minutes without using the thing? If you are going to use it surely it's good manners to say "x is it ok?"

I don't like the artificial fruit or worse vanilla smell of them either so wouldn't of wanted it in my car.

MimsyFluff · 19/08/2017 17:52

No more lifts OP she has zero respect for you!

NicolasFlamel · 19/08/2017 18:14

Blimey I only would have stopped once to boot her out and tell her to get a bus. Sounds like she did it to be awkward though.

That reminds me, we went past a vape shop inside the local shopping centre and it was like being on a misty moor! There was a big cloud floating around the place and above the counter. It absolutely stank. I'm surprised they're allowed to do that in the indoor shopping centres.

YouCantArgueWithStupid · 19/08/2017 18:15

I vape and can easily go 20 mins!!! It's usually an hourly thing for me. Also I wouldn't vape in someone's car who wasn't vaping it in themselves!

Ginmakesitallok · 19/08/2017 18:16

Nicolas - why wouldn't they be allowed??

She should have asked.

NicolasFlamel · 19/08/2017 18:19

Because there was a massive cloud of "vape" hanging around the shop and it reeked Confused People should be able to shop in an indoor mall without having to breathe it in.

sunglassally · 19/08/2017 18:28

Holier than thou people, form an orderly queue right here >>>>

I love these indignant threads. But just this once I am contributing. Watching is so much better. And as wine o'clock approaches the tempers rise. It is such fun.

For the record I don't care about vaping it doesn't bother me in the slightest, I allow anyone to vape away in my car and my home. But opening a window a crack is a good move sometimes I admit! Other than that, I am so happy that former smokers have quit. That is so good.
