Pharmacy asistant's comments! (light-hearted)

Went to get thrush treatment the other day. Got chatting to the woman who served me, mentioned that it seems to be my bc pills that set it off and she said "cheating also causes thrush".

I was a bit Shock so laughed it off and said I was fairly sure that wasn't the cause this time. She then started making comments about how men get away with everything and women just put up with it.

Should I have pulled up a chair and asked if she wanted to talk about it?!

Anyone else had any priceless inappropriate comments from a sales assistant (having been one myself I'm sure I've given some clangers in my time...)?

I was once buying some random shopping in Sainsbury's when the checkout assistant said 'you look like you're wearing a good bra, may I ask where it's from and were you measured for it'. I was so Shock I actually answered that I shop at Bravissimo Blush

Fluffyears · 14/08/2017 20:51

One of my ex's friends told him thrush is an STI and well yes it can be transmitted sexually it really isn't the same as syphilis ffs! He accused me of all sorts....mind you turns out he was shagging anything with a pulse in my bed!

Llanali · 14/08/2017 20:58

I once bought condoms, whipping cream, strawberries and a courgette.... and a copy of "Love Actually". Totally innocently. I was making a Victoria sponge cake for my then boyfriend's birthday, the courgette was for the ratatouille.

The young lad at the checkout said "oh, there's better films for this sort of night at the corner shop down the road you know" Blush

Genghi · 14/08/2017 21:13

Omg @Llanali you made me choke on my tea!!

bigtapdancingpimp · 14/08/2017 21:13

I live abroad and once went into a pharmacy to buy Zovirax (or the local equivalent) for a cold sore. I pointed at my lip and the pharmacist chirped loudly 'Herpes?!'

Cue a whole tennis conversation in a packed shop of 'Herpes?' 'No, not herpes, COLD SORE!' 'Herpes?' 'NO!!! Cold sore!' etc etc.

A part of me died that day (along with my poor crusty lip)

WaaWaaWaaa · 14/08/2017 21:17

Errrrrm cold sores ARE herpes....🤔

jmh740 · 14/08/2017 21:22

I have twins and especially when they were babies used to get asked all sort of crazy stuff in the supermarket by strangers like how did I get them did I take supplements and DTD at a particular time of month etc. also used to get far fetched stories about how people's neighbors had triplets at home in the bath with only aromatherapy for pain relief...that sort of thing!

Farmerswife4life1984 · 14/08/2017 21:36

Cold sores ARE Called herpes . It's just a virus

QuitMoaning · 14/08/2017 21:37

When I was first dating my OH, we went to an, ahem, adult shop and made some purchases, one Saturday early evening.
Went to the till to pay for them (with me doing breathing excercises and telling myself that the cashier really didn't care).
As he was ringing up, the cashier said "so, what are your plans for the evening?" As if he was ringing up some groceries. He genuinely was not trying to be funny but I just died of embarrassment and muttered about going out for dinner.

Notknownatthisaddress · 14/08/2017 21:50

Yep cold sores are herpes, and probably did get transmitted sexually.

Doesn't mean you have necessarily going down on someone with it around their genitals, but you must have come into contact with someone who has; whether you shared a cup, mug, or a bottle, or shared a towel, razor, or eating utensil. It was originally sexually transmitted.

From google.

Cold sores are usually caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV) type 1, which is transmitted by such forms of contact as kissing an infected person or sharing eating utensils, towels, or razors. Genital herpes is usually caused by herpes simplex virus type 2.

Here is a tragic story of a baby who died from meningitis the other week, after being infected by the herpes virus after someone had kissed her. It's a foul and vile virus - and very contagious!

The woman in the pharmacy (that the OP was referring,) to is a moron by the way. THRUSH is NOT a sexually transmitted disease.

And I would have fucking reported her. Cheeky cunt. She was way out of line, and VERY unprofessional.

dementedpixie · 14/08/2017 21:52

It can be transmitted through sex though

bigtapdancingpimp · 14/08/2017 21:58

I know cold sores are herpes FFS! I've had them all my life.

I was just embarrassed about the foreign pharmacist blurting out 'HERPES?' in the middle of a busy shop. I just wanted some cold sore cream for my lip.

My wife and I went to visit my 92 year old aunt, we were staying in a hotel as it was too much for her to have visitors staying over. She asked me if I'd clear a blocked drain so we went to a local shop and I bought a pair of bright yellow marigold gloves. My DW said that we might as well buy some sine to have back in the hotel room.
We still laugh about the way the assistant looked at an elderly couple buying a pair of rubber gloves and two bottles of wine. We wonder what she thought we were going to do

rainbowlou · 14/08/2017 22:14

I ordered the MAP online to collect at a local chemist, the pharmacist asked me, so how long since you..you know..and then whistled while poking his fore finger through his circled finger and thumb on the other hand.
I died a little bit inside that day Blush

chickenfraybentos · 14/08/2017 22:20

rainbowlou amazing. I'm picturing him as Rowan Atkinson.

amermaideindesguise · 14/08/2017 22:27

LottieDoubtie · 14/08/2017 22:31

(Or am I just very old now, I remember when this was all fields...)

rainbowlou · 14/08/2017 22:37

No idea..I'm old so think of him as probably younger than me?? So this guy was even younger than that!Grin

KoolKoala07 · 14/08/2017 22:49

I was buying baby clothes (for a friends new baby) and I had one of those 'mum to be' forms in my purse that I never got around to handing in. The sales assistant in boots helpfully noticed it sticking out of my purse and asked if I wanted her to take it and do whatever they do with them.
I'd actually had a mmc so told her so, and told her that I'd just not gotten around to throwing it away, poor woman didn't know what to say. She couldn't apologise enough.

Fluffyears · 14/08/2017 22:53

I spoke to s pharmacist the other day who looked about 14 😫

MeanAger · 14/08/2017 23:00

Not a shop conversation, much more cringey.

My ex was in the navy. He went on a 6 month deployment and the day after he got back we went for dinner at my parents. Over dinner my mum asked us if we had done anything nice for his first night back home. Before either of us could answer my dad chirped in "the lad's been at sea for 6 months, what do you think they did?" Blush
