...to think strictly thinks too much of itself?

They seem to think that it's building the suspense up by only announcing one celebrity a day at a time. I don't actually care who is in it but I get irrationally annoyed when I see another 'news' item declaring the latest celebrity to be announce. It really is not a big deal.

It's a Saturday evening light entertainment show. And as that it's fine - the kids like it, and I quite like having a family show to watch all together. But they can fuck off with this over the top build up to a bit of fluff on telly.

I love the build up to Strictly.

confusedandemployed · 14/08/2017 16:47

YANBU. I think they can fuck off too.

Not even that struck on the show actually.

treaclesoda · 14/08/2017 16:47

I feel much the same. I used to like it years ago, was an entertaining bit of fun. Now I'm just fed up hearing about it. And it hasn't even started yet.

Ropsleybunny · 14/08/2017 16:48

It's very popular, so I guess it is a big deal. Personally speaking, I used to like it but I just don't enjoy it anymore.

Laiste · 14/08/2017 16:50

When shows start taking themselves too seriously it's usually the beginning of a slow decline to it turning shite. And then disappearing.

user1498921160 · 14/08/2017 16:52

I'm tired of Strictly .I barely watched the last series. It's become too serious and polished and the fun has gone out of it. And yes, all this announcing celebs one by one and then having a special show to announce who's been paired with who weeks before the series actually begins is tiresome and dragged out.

YoungChowFriedRice · 14/08/2017 16:55

Yanbu, but then I've never really got why its so popular.

Lottapianos · 14/08/2017 16:56

I adore it, every bit of it, even Tess and her dubious dresses that she still manages to look amazing in. I enjoy the hype and can't wait for the new series to start, even if it won't be the same without Judge Rinder (sobs)

whatsthecomingoverthehill · 14/08/2017 17:01

What hype though Lotta? They're trying too hard to manufacture hype when hardly anyone seems to care. No one seems to be talking about it (or I haven't noticed at least, thankfully).

I love the hype and build up...I absolutely adore Strictly! The only reality tv I'd watch, just good old fashioned light hearted entertainment.
I know lots of people who feel the same and lots of people who don't...horses for courses :)

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 14/08/2017 17:06

It's my favourite autumn tv show.

Curtains shut.
Heating on.
Takeaway ordered
Wine poured..............

Strictly on the telly Smile

Nikephorus · 14/08/2017 17:10

When are they going to announce a decent celebrity though? I've only heard of a couple of these so far.

whatsthecomingoverthehill · 14/08/2017 17:15

Exactly StillSaying, it's an autumn tv show. There isn't going to be any dancing for at least a month. We'll have that cringey introduction show where they all pretend to be over the moon in the meantime.

Yea I wish there were some celebrities that I'd heard of joining the show. I always enjoy it anyhow, it's good clean healthy fun so bring it on.

eyebrowsonfleek · 14/08/2017 18:38

Yanbu

I also hate the obligatory fuss about who is going to be the X-factor judges and the tedious analysis of Simon Cowell's relationship with Cheryl Tweedy up to today.

OhMrBadger · 14/08/2017 18:50

I love everything about Strictly but I don't really get excited about the celebrities involved this far in advance.

Remember it's all just a big marketing ploy to get people talking about the programme...and apparently it works!!
