To ask about period after miscarriage

gottobesomegoodtimesahead · 13/08/2017 22:04

I had a miscarriage and opted for medical management a month ago which ultimately failed.

I had a d&c on 25 July and my period started today. I'm a bit unsure of when I should have been expecting my period Sad

I thought it would've been a month or so after d&c but here it is!

Any advice or anyone able to share their experiences?

I think it can vary wildly from person to person but in my experiences it has been between 3-4 weeks.

Am so sorry for your loss Flowers

I'm sure it differs from person to person. I waited around 8 weeks. Rest assured everything will settle down in time. I went on to have three straightforward pregnancies after the miscarriage.

I'm in same boat... everyone is different. I had surgery to remove an ectopic 4 weeks ago and I've had no period yet. I've been told it can take between 4 and 10 weeks and 3 months for your cycle to return to normal.

Sorry that should read 4 to 10 weeks for your period to return and 3 months for things to go back to normal

I thought it would take longer than 19 days. I was kind of dreading it as it was just the final confirmation that my baby has gone but actually I felt ok today. As if it means I can try again.

First miscarriage was 11 weeks until my period. Second time I conceived straightaway and must have ovulated three weeks after miscarrying, so would have been around a five week cycle.

After my miscarriage, I had an ERPC and was bleeding for 3.5 weeks (which I wasn't expecting to do as no one had said anything about bleeding) and then my period started 3 days later much to my horror. I felt like I'd been bleeding for about 5 weeks. I was then pregnant 3 weeks later but depressed about losing the other baby so didn't enjoy the pregnancy or the fact I had no periods. So don't rush into anything, take time to look after yourself. Flowers

So sorry about your miscarriage. I had an ERPC after a MM at 8 weeks and it's so tough.

Altiara - exactly the same happened to me. I was pregnant 4 weeks after the miscarriage (didn't even have a period in-between), I too was very depressed about the miscarriage and the trauma of the op and my head was still all over the place when I got pregnant again. I also found my pregnancy hard.

Definitely don't rush. Give yourself time and look after yourself. Xx
