If you behaved at school, why?

If you didn't, why?

And what was the worst trouble you got in?

You first, or aren't your stories good enough for an article?

Eusebius · 13/08/2017 17:46

Always behaved at school

Why?

I believed that's just what you do.
Wanted my parents to be proud.
Adults were always right.
Didn't like the consequences of not behaving.

Worst trouble ?
Never as an individual but as a collective - Yr group being mouthy.

InspMorse · 13/08/2017 20:17

Yes I behaved at school.
Why? Consequences.

EduCated · 13/08/2017 20:28

Welcome to MN. Interesting topic for your first post. Why don't you kick us off?

tinytemper66 · 13/08/2017 20:35

Journo alert anyone? As previous poster said...you first!

Tainbri · 13/08/2017 20:42

By today's standards yes I behaved at school (it was 30 years ago) why? because my parents would have taken the schools side and punished me severely and I was scared of the teachers etc. I got detentions for things like not handing in homework on time, had board rubber thrown at me for talking in class and hit accross knuckles with a ruler.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/08/2017 20:46

I was a little angel. I was appallingly shy and nervous, so I was petrified to put a foot wrong.
School and Teachers absolutely put the fear of God into me.

C0untDucku1a · 13/08/2017 20:54

God journalists are lazy these days.

LordPercy · 13/08/2017 20:56

Why do you care? I'm a teacher of quite a few decades as well as a parent and I've never popped up and posted such a nosey abrupt OP Hmm

fleshmarketclose · 13/08/2017 21:01

I was well behaved because if they had had reason to contact home about my behaviour df would have gone mad. Db was once hit on the head by a teacher with the metre rule leaving a long raised bruise. Df went mad at db and punished him again but never questioned what the teacher did Confused
My dc were mostly well behaved (apart from ds2) and I did support the school in any sanctions but not unquestioningly. On one occasion I was phoned to be told ds2 had hurt a girl and it was so out of character I asked them to check they had the right person. They had phoned me in error on that occasion.
My own df wouldn't have questioned them at all and would have considered any denial lies tbh I suppose that's the difference in a generation.

CancellyMcChequeface · 13/08/2017 21:12

I behaved extremely well in the classroom - always worked hard, never talked when I was supposed to be writing, never rude to teachers. I was very anxious and fearful of my teachers and hated school from a very young age, but I did enjoy learning new things. In primary school I also liked being thought of as the 'good' one and pleasing adults (and absolutely hated the collective class punishments because I honestly was never to blame).

In secondary school my classroom behaviour didn't change but I hardly ever did homework (school was for schoolwork and I worked hard, home was my downtime and I really resented the intrusion) and from year 8 onwards I skipped school regularly. Left at 16.

greyseal2 · 13/08/2017 22:14

I'm not a journalist. I thought it would be interesting and give me some insights but I suppose I should not have posted. I'm sorry.

Can we see your answers?

ASauvingnonADay · 13/08/2017 22:27

I reckon not a journo but a teen perhaps...

thebigbluedustbin · 13/08/2017 23:32

I was well behaved at school until I started to have depression as a teen, then I behaved like an asshole. I wanted people to ask me what was wrong and didn't know how to do it the right way.

CanadaMoose91 · 14/08/2017 00:05

I was well behaved bacause my parents were teachers in my school. I was also quite eager to do well academically because the boy I was "in love with" was very clever.

I was told off once for painting a friend instead of my work in Art class once though...

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/08/2017 00:11

Sorry people have been a tad hostile. This had the potential to be a very good thread.

HurryUpAndWait · 14/08/2017 02:59

I don't think MN is as interesting as some of you seem to think it is.
