I am sorry but that is not walking is it? Grin

PlayOnWurtz · 13/08/2017 15:33

It's the well known sport of "shove a broom up the arse and waddle"

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2017 15:34

OMG I am on the edge of my seat here. Grin

Grin Play. What are the exact rules? people keep getting yellow cards.

OP posts:
OnionKnight · 13/08/2017 15:35

They walk exactly how I'd expect someone to walk if they'd eaten a dodgy curry the night before.

YellowLawn · 13/08/2017 15:35

it looks so funny.
the dc try to do it in the garden. hilarious!

just how do you get to that as sport? it's not one of the obvious ones, isn't it.

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2017 15:36

Oooh people are getting cautions now.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2017 15:36

Someone is going to break into a sprint I reckon.

OP posts:
jay55 · 13/08/2017 15:38

I think it is who can try the hardest not to run.
Totally daft.

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2017 15:39

Gold for Columbia. Yay! Er well i think it's yay. Grin

I'm soooo fast at walking. I'd love to get into this sport, where can I train?Grin

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2017 15:41

Shall we set up a MN fast walking group?

OP posts:
SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 13/08/2017 15:41

It reminds me of getting runners' runs and the compromise movement of getting to a portaloo as fast as possible but without the triggering jarring of actual running.

I wonder if they've tried Buscopan/ Imodium Grin

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2017 15:42

I am a really fast walker but I need to know the rules.

OP posts:
sparechange · 13/08/2017 15:42

The yellow cards are for "lifting" which is doing a stride of running instead of walking.

It looks ridiculous but they can walk a marathon faster than I can run one, so all power to their (waddling) elbow

Iruka · 13/08/2017 15:43

I think they have to have a foot on the ground all the time???

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2017 15:45

Yes it's very small steps isn't it? Absolutely no striding. So how many strikes til you get disqualified? It must be a bit dull being the referee/umpire/judge or whatever they have.

OP posts:
sparechange · 13/08/2017 15:45

3 yellow cards and you're out...

YellowLawn · 13/08/2017 15:47

yes, they have to have one foot on the ground at all times and they have to stretch the legs.
the jurors are not allowed to view footage and there are many judges along the route.

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2017 15:47

Ooh that's harsh spare. I was a bit disappointed it wasn't a photo finish at the end I wanted to see some neck and neck overtaking action.

OP posts:
Floralnomad · 13/08/2017 15:50

Yellow cards are warnings , they are to warn you to amend your technique , if you don't you get a red card , 3 red cards given by 3 different judges means disqualified. The head judge can disqualify people cheating without any prior red cards to stop cheating occurring near the finish line . You have to have a part of a foot in touch with the floor at all times and your leg has to be straight when it hits the floor and goes under your body . It's bollocks they are all cheating most of the time . Apparently they are going to introduce inner soles that can tell if you a cheating on the floor rule to help eliminate the cheating .

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2017 15:52

It looks like a sport where you would really ache afterwards, it looks so awkward the straight leg thing.

OP posts:
ineedamoreadultieradult · 13/08/2017 15:57

I was watching their feet very carefully, I am bored, and I think they are pretty much all cheating all of the time as far as I can tell.

MyOtherProfile · 13/08/2017 15:59

Dh always calls it mincing. It's the mincing competition. Who'd have thought you could get medals for mincing?

Floralnomad · 13/08/2017 16:00

I won't tell you what my ds calls it , it's too offensive , I think it's interesting for about the first 5 minutes and I generally watch any sport , must be bad .
