To call the police?

Or do I just need to calm down?

I'm in Spain with my DP. Last night we went out for drinks with some friends of his. I went home at about 1:30am and the rest of them stayed out. DP still isn't back and it's now 8am.

It wouldn't be unheard of for him to have decided to make a night of it, but I'm freaking out because
a) surely all the clubs will be closed by now?
b) his friends are flying back this morning and will have had to leave for the airport by now, so seems unlikely he stayed with them
c) he last messaged me, very drunk, at about 3am saying he was thinking about trying to cycle home but didn't know the way
d) he's usually pretty considerate and would know that I'd be worrying by now

I'm now in a total panic thinking that he's been mown down by a bus or something. Should I call the police? And if so, how long should I wait? Am I totally overreacting? I feel really on my own here and I don't really know what to do. I don't have any numbers for the friends he was out with so can't ask them, though I have messaged one who I'm friends with on FB. His phone died just after he sent me that last message at 3am.

Eep. Can you walk back to the bar and see if you can find him on the way?

TroelsLovesSquinkies · 13/08/2017 07:15

There was a club near our hotel/apartment last year that closed at about 9am, there would be people coming out and stopping in the restaurant we were sat in for breakfast and having coffee and food. So it's possible that he stayed on all night.
Hope he rolls in soon.

You can easily stay out all night in Spain . It's shit though that you have to be so worried.

Lweji · 13/08/2017 07:20

If you do ring the police they would be able to tell you if any major accidents have been reported.

If he was very drunk he'd probably be sleeping it off somewhere. It shouldn't be cold enough in Spain to think of hypothermia.

I hope he shows up soon.

Poor you Flowers that's worrying.

Okay, so I would contact the police now, not because I think anything has happened but because then if he goes to them it's all much easier for them to get him back to you!

Also definitely worth leaving a note st the place you're staying if he comes back (leave a note for reception to contact you if he comes back) and then walking to the club.

I am sure it's fine, but nothing worse than sitting waiting and maybe you will find home propping up a bar somewhere.xx

Thanks so much guys. I used to be a party girl myself and 8am would be nothing so I don't know why I was freaking out so much!

He has just strolled in, covered in dirt and blood, minus his phone and bank cards. Apparently he went to a gay club and then got mugged on his way home. I will be very, very angry with him once he's sobered up a bit.

Mostly just glad he's not squished under a bus somewhere though Blush

That's brilliant news he's home! Phew!

PumpkinPie2016 · 13/08/2017 08:08

Glad he's back even if he is a bit battered! Don't forget to cancel the bank cards!

LEMtheoriginal · 13/08/2017 08:14

He needs to cancel his cards though
