After spending several weeks researching nursery furniture (who knew a cot isn't just a cot? Or is it, and I'm being dragged into new baby madness?) We finally settled on a cot and chest of drawers from Wayfair. It states that they're both eligible for free delivery to the UK, but closer examination reveals that a supplementary charge applies for far flung places like NI, where I am. That's sort of fine- I'm used to it, although it's frustrating as Royal Mail charge a flat rate, but whatever; my head is mashed with trying to make decisions, and if I don't order soon, the baby will be here before the furniture.
Sign up to a Wayfair account, go through all the stages and on the very last page they add in the delivery charge.... £300!
Obviously I'm not going to pay that on a £500 order, but would I be unreasonable to to email them and tell them to close the account I've just opened and tell them they're a bunch of pisstakers? A quick search suggests sending it by Parcelforce would be £110, and that's for me as a non-commercial account. I can even get it sent from Italy for £70 per item!!
I really liked that cot too!
